Every Game Revealed at the 2026 Story Rich Showcase: 26 Narrative-Focused Titles Identified
June 7, 2026The 2026 Story Rich Showcase, presented by indie publisher Fellow Traveller, unveiled 26 narrative-driven games, each selected editorially with no sponsored slots, and provided new details, release dates, and demo availability for many anticipated titles.
The Story Rich Showcase 2026 made its debut during Summer Game Fest, dedicated exclusively to giving narrative-centric games prominent visibility. Organised by Fellow Traveller, publishers of acclaimed indie hits such as Citizen Sleeper, 1000xResist, and LudoNarracon, this event was designed to counterbalance the often commercial focus of mainstream showcases by “giving narrative-driven titles the time, care, and visibility they so often miss during one of the busiest moments in the games calendar.”
The editorial team confirmed before the event that they would present a line-up of 20–25 titles, “all chosen on a purely editorial basis with no paid or sponsored slots.” Ultimately, 26 games were featured, spanning mystery, horror, fantasy, and adventure genres, and several games debuted brand-new details or playable demos.

Game Highlights: Details, Release Dates, and Direct Quotes

Apple Crumble is a new mystery title from the creator of Duck Detective, drawing inspiration from the film Knives Out. The official description states, “It’s your grandma’s 84th birthday party and nobody is trying to murder her. Stop suspecting your family members, and don’t worry about the strange man in your bedroom.” This combination of offbeat humour and mystery sets the tone for a narrative-focused experience.
The Mermaid Mask, by SFB Games (famed for Tangle Tower and Crow Country), is described as, “An impossible locked-room murder: Captain Mortuga lies dead beside an ancient cauldron aboard the world’s strangest submarine, crewed by sketchy suspects. A handcrafted point-and-click with sharp humour and tricky puzzles.” The game launches on 16 July 2026 for PS5, Nintendo Switch, the forthcoming Switch 2, and PC.
Penguin Colony by Origame Digital, studio behind Umurangi Generation, describes itself as “cosmic horror through the eyes of a penguin.” The game’s official blurb reads: “Rival human factions have come to your home in the Antarctic, seeking an ancient and inconceivable being. Observe their descent into insanity in this faithful re-imagining of H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness, and other stories.” The release is slated for later in 2026, and a playable demo is currently available on Steam.
The Telwynium evokes the 16-colour EGA Sierra adventure games of the early 1990s, developed by the creator of The Drifter. Story details include, “Your home, the village of Willows Dene, burns at the hands of the shadowfell. Only the power of the Autumn-Aldor Dwinn stopped it from being overrun completely. Now, led by the Aldor, you flee to the west, for the White City, Aldarris. With you are your childhood friends Tani and Witt, the irritable Uplander Otarr Stronghorn, and a colossal gohl’en of mud and stone, summoned by the Aldor as the shadowfell attacked.”
Additional high-impact announcements include Demonschool debuting new downloadable content and confirming a Nintendo Switch 2 release window in 2026, and Citizen Sleeper 1 & 2 set for June 25 on Switch 2.
