Eligible U.S. players who want Nintendo’s physical DK Challenge card set must complete the entire 39-card event by September 1, 2026, at 12:59 a.m. PT. The requirement includes all 24 Donkey Kong Bananza cards as well as the 15 retro Nintendo Classics cards.
Nintendo’s official reward announcement says the item is a physical 39-card set with a custom case and is available only to eligible players in the United States. The 39 cards are split between 24 challenges tied to Donkey Kong Bananza and 15 retro challenges in select Nintendo Classics titles.
What you need to qualify for the DK Challenge card set
- An active Nintendo Switch Online membership.
- A Nintendo Switch 2 system, because Nintendo limits participation in the event to active Nintendo Switch Online members on that system.
- Completion of all 39 challenge cards by the cutoff.
- Access to Donkey Kong Bananza. Nintendo says the game is sold separately and is required to complete its 24 challenges.
- Eligibility for the United States-only offer. Nintendo does not define every regional or account condition in the announcement.
Nintendo’s original DK Challenge event notice supports the membership, hardware and game-access requirements. Completing only the 15 Nintendo Classics cards is not enough for this reward, because the later reward announcement requires completion of the entire challenge.
The exact DK Challenge deadline
The qualification cutoff is September 1, 2026, at 12:59 a.m. PT. Nintendo says eligible members who complete the challenge by then will be notified in early October through a My Nintendo news article with instructions for claiming the reward. That means September 1 is the completion deadline, not the date the card set can be claimed. Nintendo also says no My Nintendo Platinum Points are required to redeem the reward.
What Nintendo has not confirmed
The announcement does not say whether Nintendo will charge shipping or handling, whether supplies are capped, when the cards will ship, or whether U.S. eligibility depends on a Nintendo Account region, a U.S. delivery address or both. Until Nintendo publishes the early-October instructions, those details remain unknown.
The practical answer is to make sure all 39 cards, not just the retro set, are complete before the cutoff while the membership and Switch 2 requirements are met. Doing so satisfies the disclosed completion requirement, but the offer remains subject to Nintendo’s still-undefined eligibility and claim terms.
