Roblox Everywhere standalone apps: What’s confirmed and what isn’t
September 16, 2026Roblox plans to let creators offer games as standalone apps on mobile, PC and consoles, but it has not announced public availability, a release date or eligibility rules.
Roblox has announced standalone apps for mobile, PC and consoles, but it has not announced a public release date or a self-service publishing process. The feature is part of Roblox Everywhere, an initiative Roblox announced on September 11, 2026. For now, creators should treat it as a planned distribution option rather than an export tool they can use immediately.
The central distinction is between Roblox’s stated direction and a released publishing workflow. The announcement says individual games will be able to reach players as separate apps while continuing to rely on Roblox technology and services, but it does not explain how creators will package, submit or commercially operate those releases.
What Roblox has confirmed about standalone apps
In its RDC 2026 announcement, Roblox said: “Soon, creators will have the option to make their games available as standalone apps across mobile, PC, and consoles, with Roblox powering the technology and services underneath.” That is Roblox’s clearest public description of the initiative.
The statement confirms three broad device categories: mobile, PC and consoles. It also indicates that standalone distribution will not separate a game entirely from Roblox’s infrastructure, because Roblox says it will continue to provide the underlying technology and services.
Roblox’s announcement does not name participating storefronts, console platform holders or launch territories. It also does not specify creator eligibility, submission and approval procedures, commercial terms, platform fees, moderation arrangements, account requirements, cross-play or cross-progression.
Can creators publish a standalone Roblox app now?
Roblox has not announced public availability. Its official post says the option is coming “soon,” without providing a standalone-app release date or describing a public application process. That means there is no confirmed route in the announcement for a typical creator to publish a separate Roblox game app today.
There is one indication of how testing may begin. PC Gamer reported that an unnamed Roblox representative said: “We will start with a select set of gaming developers and storefronts to test, and we will share more details soon.”
That rollout detail comes from PC Gamer’s reporting, not Roblox’s public newsroom announcement. Neither the developers nor the storefronts have been identified, and Roblox has not published selection criteria. Creators should therefore avoid making release commitments based on access to Roblox Everywhere until the company provides those details.
Standalone apps have no confirmed release date
Roblox used the word “soon” for standalone apps but did not attach a date to them. The explicit end-of-2026 and mid-2027 targets announced at RDC apply to two separate features: Chrome web play and offline solo play.
By the end of 2026, Roblox says players will be able to launch a game in Chrome from its Experience Details Page without installing an app, with more browsers planned later. That is browser-based access, not confirmation that standalone apps or storefront listings will be available by the same deadline.
Offline solo play has a different target. Roblox says it will be available by mid-2027, with early access coming soon. The company’s official RDC developer recap also presents web distribution and offline solo play as separate roadmap items. Neither timetable establishes a launch date for Roblox Everywhere standalone apps.
- Standalone apps: Announced for mobile, PC and consoles, with no public launch date.
- Chrome web play: Targeted for the end of 2026 and launched from an Experience Details Page without an app installation.
- Offline solo play: Targeted for mid-2027, with early access described as coming soon.
What creators should plan for now
Developers considering standalone distribution still need answers about selection criteria, participating stores, technical packaging, approvals and commercial terms. Until those details arrive, it would be premature to redesign a release plan around assumed access to the program or a particular storefront.
Players should likewise avoid assuming that a favourite Roblox game will appear on a specific console, PC store or mobile storefront. Roblox has confirmed the broad device categories, but not the individual services involved or how the first tests will work.
Roblox Everywhere could become a significant change in how Roblox games are distributed. Its practical effect, however, will depend on the rollout and business details that Roblox has yet to announce.
