Modern Warfare 4 launch: Maps, DMZ and the Game Pass catch
October 24, 2026Here is what is available now, what Multiplayer includes at launch and what the Xbox Store says about Game Pass.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is live worldwide as of October 23, 2026, completing its staged rollout. Activision says the Campaign, Multiplayer and the Hajin DMZ extraction mode are all available with the full launch.
That is the practical change from the earlier access windows: the general release has now followed Campaign early access and DMZ early access. Players can move between the three modes highlighted in Activision’s launch announcement.
What is available in Modern Warfare 4 now?
Multiplayer launches with 20 maps. According to Activision’s launch patch notes, that total consists of 12 Core 6v6 maps, three Ground War maps, four Gunfight maps and Kill Block.
The same patch notes list more than a dozen Multiplayer modes, 33 weapons and 33 Operators. The launch progression track runs through Level 55 and continues beyond it.
Kill Block is the most unusual part of the map slate. Activision says its modular design allows more than 500 configurations at launch. It supports 3v3 and the new 10v10 Gunfight mode, according to the publisher’s Kill Block Multiplayer briefing.
Hajin DMZ is available at launch
Hajin is available as Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ extraction mode alongside Campaign and Multiplayer. If this is your first extraction-mode run, start with our Modern Warfare 4 DMZ beginner guide, which explains Active Duty slots, MIA recovery, free loadouts and locked Traits.
The full launch follows the phased release covered in our campaign and DMZ early-access timeline. Campaign early access began on October 16, while DMZ early access followed on October 20. The worldwide launch arrived on October 23.
Is Modern Warfare 4 on Xbox Game Pass?
Not according to the current Xbox Store listing. The page for the Vault Edition states that Modern Warfare 4 is “Not on Xbox Game Pass this year”.
The same listing says the game is cloud playable through eligible Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate plans, but it also says a game purchase is required. Cloud-play eligibility on that store page therefore does not mean the game is included with a Game Pass subscription.
The listing also says console online multiplayer requires a subscription. Xbox players should check the current page for the edition and platform they plan to buy before purchasing.
