Scheduled to commence in the spring of 2025, the mission will house four brave souls in a 1,700-square-foot 3D-printed habitat located in Houston. This cutting-edge facility, known as the Mars Dune Alpha habitat, is meticulously designed to emulate the harsh conditions of the Martian landscape, offering a glimpse into the challenges future explorers might face on the red planet.

The chosen crew members will be tasked with a myriad of responsibilities, from habitat maintenance to crop cultivation, all within the confines of this extraordinary habitat. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to engage in simulated spacewalks within the habitat’s expansive 1,200-square-foot sandbox.

To qualify for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, applicants must be U.S. citizens aged between 30 and 55, proficient in English, and possess a master’s degree in a STEM field, along with relevant professional experience. NASA is accepting applications through April 2 on the CHAPEA website.

While the compensation details remain undisclosed, the allure of participating in a groundbreaking endeavour destined to push the boundaries of human exploration is undeniable. So, if you’re ready to embark on an unparalleled adventure and leave your mark on the annals of space exploration, NASA’s CHAPEA 2 mission awaits your bold spirit.
