Sony PlayStation State of Play 2025 Reportedly Set for Next Week – Here’s What We Might See
February 4, 2025If the rumours are true, this could mean trailers, gameplay reveals, and possibly a few surprises that make us scream louder than Kratos on a Monday morning.
The leak comes from NateTheHate, a known insider who accurately predicted Nintendo’s Switch 2 announcement before it happened. According to his mysterious but oh-so-exciting tease, the State of Play 2025 could drop sometime between February 10 and 14—meaning PlayStation fans may be getting the best Valentine’s Day gift ever. (Forget chocolates, we want Death Stranding 2 updates!)
But what exactly can we expect from Sony’s first big showcase of 2025? Time to put on our detective hats and break it all down.

Sony’s been cooking up some major exclusives behind the scenes, and this State of Play might be the perfect time to serve up some fresh gameplay trailers. Here are a few we might see:
Ghost of Yotei – Sucker Punch’s long-rumoured follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima has a 2025 release window. Could we finally get a full reveal with gameplay and a release date? Here’s hoping for more samurai action and fewer ghost-related delays.
Marathon – Bungie’s PvP extraction shooter was announced ages ago, but we’ve seen very little. If beta testing is set for this year, we might finally see a new trailer. Maybe they’ll even let us know what “extraction shooter” really means.
Fairgames – Haven Studios’ first-ever multiplayer heist game. With all the chatter about Sony’s live-service games, it’s time we saw some actual gameplay and figured out what makes this one different from the 100 other heist games out there.
Marvel’s Wolverine – Insomniac Games has been pretty quiet about this one. With Spider-Man 2 already out, maybe it’s finally time to give Logan his moment in the spotlight (and maybe a chance to slice through some bad guys in stunning 4K).
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach – Kojima’s weird and wonderful sequel to the FedEx Simulator we all love is coming in 2025. Could we see a new trailer, or will Kojima just troll us with another cryptic teaser that makes no sense? (Both seem likely.)
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet – Naughty Dog’s brand-new IP was just announced. While it’s still early days, Sony might drop a cinematic teaser just to remind us that Naughty Dog still exists outside of The Last of Us.
What About Third-Party Surprises?

State of Play isn’t just about Sony exclusives—we might also get some big third-party announcements that make PS5 owners jump for joy (or at least refresh their pre-order pages).
Phantom Blade Zero – The hack-and-slash RPG from Chinese studio S-Game turned heads when it was first revealed. It’s stylish, and fast, and it’s been way too long since we got an update.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle – Bethesda’s Indiana Jones game is coming to PS5 after some initial Xbox exclusivity rumours. Could we finally get a release date? Maybe even some whip-cracking gameplay?
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (Again) – Square Enix doesn’t miss a chance to remind us that FF7 isn’t just a game—it’s a lifestyle. We wouldn’t be surprised to see another trailer before launch day.
Silent Hill 2 Remake – It’s been radio silent (pun fully intended) for a while now. With Konami making moves again, a new Silent Hill 2 trailer might just be around the corner.
Rise of the Ronin – Team Ninja’s upcoming open-world samurai RPG is on track for a March release. This State of Play would be the perfect place for a final gameplay showcase before it drops.
The Microsoft Wildcard – Will Xbox Games Appear?
If you told someone a year ago that Xbox would be putting games on PlayStation, they’d probably laugh at you. But Microsoft has been making some unexpected moves, and with Halo rumours floating around, could Sony’s showcase actually feature an Xbox game announcement?
Halo on PlayStation – It sounds insane, but with Microsoft shifting its strategy, we wouldn’t rule out Halo: The Master Chief Collection making its way to PS5. Imagine Master Chief rocking up in a State of Play trailer—that alone would break the internet.
Call of Duty’s Next Chapter – Microsoft has already confirmed that Call of Duty will stay multiplatform for the foreseeable future. Could we get a first look at 2025’s CoD title?
What Not to Expect
Not every Sony project is ready to show up just yet. Based on recent news, here’s what we probably won’t be seeing:
Any of the recently cancelled live-service games – Sony axed two unannounced live-service projects from Bend Studio and Bluepoint. If you were hoping for a live-service God of War, well… sorry to break it to you.
Bloodborne Remastered (Again, Stop Asking) – No, we’re not getting a Bloodborne remaster. Yes, it hurts. No, Sony does not care about our suffering.
PS5 Pro Announcement – Rumors of a PS5 Pro are swirling, but it’s unlikely Sony will drop such a major hardware reveal during a regular State of Play.
