Crimson Desert 1.07.00 Adds Boss Rematches, Unarmed Combat Upgrades, and Boosts Pearl Abyss Revenue

May 16, 2026 Off By Ibraheem Adeola

Crimson Desert’s 1.07.00 update introduces repeatable boss rematches, a new unarmed skill tree for Damiane, new animal mounts, and key quality of life fixes. The update coincides with news that the game’s rapid sales led to a fourfold increase in Pearl Abyss’s operating revenue and $3,400 employee bonuses.

Crimson Desert’s 1.07.00 patch, released on 15 May 2026, is now available for Steam (PC/Mac), PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store, with Mac App Store users awaiting deployment. Major features include expanded boss rematch content, new unarmed combat skills for Damiane, extra wolf and bear mount types, and stability fixes. The cumulative effect has been recognised not only in robust player engagement but also in concrete financial gains for the developer, Pearl Abyss, which noted a fourfold increase in operating revenue compared to the previous year, primarily attributed to Crimson Desert’s commercial performance.

Key Features of Crimson Desert 1.07.00

  • Boss Rematches: More bosses can now be fought repeatedly via the in-game rematch system. To access these, “head to your in-game journal, and then flick through the Knowledge section through to Memory Fragments and then onto Bosses.” Players report encountering bosses in areas where they previously did not appear.
  • Unarmed Combat Expansion: Damiane, a playable character, receives a new unarmed combat skill tree, accessible by selecting “Fists” in the skill menu. This mirrors Oongka’s previous unarmed update.
  • New Abilities: Both Damiane and Oongka can perform an “Aerial Stab,” described as feeling “very Assassin’s Creed”. Kliff gains the “Blinding Flash Finisher” for unarmed combat.
  • Animal Mounts: Additional wolf and bear varieties can now be registered as mounts, and new reins have been introduced for select mounts. Pearl Abyss has not specified which mounts support reins.
  • Mount Expansion: Patch notes confirm “increased the number of animals in the world that can be used as mounts.”

Crimson Desert’s Success and Future Plans

Crimson Desert has reportedly exceeded developer expectations, with “just five days, Crimson Desert hit 3m sales, and then only a week later Pearl Abyss announced Crimson Desert had sold a further 1m copies.” This sales momentum translated directly into developer rewards, with “every employee a bonus that equated to about $3,400.”

Pearl Abyss also announced that this surge in popularity drove “a fourfold increase in operating revenue compared to this time last year, thanks in no small part to Crimson Desert.” The publisher has since suggested the possibility of new Crimson Desert DLC is under consideration.

Despite commercial success, critical reviews remain mixed. Eurogamer described it as “A vast world and even vaster array of MMO-like activities mix with glittering fidelity in Crimson Desert, but what good is it without much character, texture or charm?”
