November 12, 2023 Off By Ibraheem Adeola

Marvel Comics has a rich tapestry of characters, each with their own unique stories and powers. One such enigmatic figure that has captured the imagination of fans is the symbiote god, Knull, the god of the abyss. Join us on a journey through the cosmic darkness as we explore everything there is to know about Marvel’s enigmatic symbiote deity.

Who is Knull in the Marvel Universe?

Knull emerges as an ancient malevolent force that travelled the cosmos as a conqueror aeons ago. He was linked to a symbiote sword called All-Black, which was forged from the head of a dead celestial being. This weapon, which would come to be known as Knowhere, was used by Gorr the God Butcher in the Thor comics created by Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic.

Knull’s nefarious objective involved slaying other cosmic gods. Even after losing All-Black in battle, he discovered the ability to create and control an army of symbiotes. However, this army eventually turned on Knull, leading to his imprisonment at the heart of the planet Klyntar. The symbiotes, stemming from Klyntar, went on to play a pivotal role in protecting the galaxy.

Centuries later, Knull resurrected Cletus Kasady, gaining control of the Grendel dragon. His plan involved assembling missing pieces from hosts to free his physical form from Klyntar. Eddie/Venom messed up Knull’s plans, but his cult didn’t give up – they hooked up a piece of Grendel to Cletus, paving the way for their mission to track down everyone who was linked to a symbiote.

The Primordial Powers of Knull the Symbiote god

Divine Physiology: Knull’s primordial essence grants him superhuman attributes surpassing those of humans and most entities in the Marvel Universe. His divine physiology is the bedrock of his strength, durability, and agility, positioning him as a formidable cosmic entity.

Symbiote Manipulation: Knull’s connection to the All-Black symbiote sword enables him to create and control armies of symbiotes. This includes the ability to possess them in monstrous forms, exemplified by the Grendel dragon. His mastery over symbiotic forces adds layers to the symbiote narrative.

Shapeshifting and Invulnerability: The god of cosmic darkness is not confined to a single form. Knull can shapeshift at will, with his most recognized form resembling a Dracula-like entity. His near-invulnerability allows him to endure for billions of years without sustenance, establishing him as an enduring force in the Marvel cosmos.

The Dark Influence: knull’s Role in the Marvel Universe

In Venomized (2018), we saw Knull take control of symbiotes and launch an attack on the whole Marvel Universe. He was stuck in Klyntar, working to make sure his creations would obey him. He used Carnage and Grendel as his messengers, trying to get back in touch with anyone whom a symbiote had ever taken over. It was all part of his plan to come back and accomplish his galactic mission. Knull’s got Cletus Kasady on a leash – he sees him as the ticket to liberation and his own true heir. Carnage, Grendel, and Knull are all connected in some way, and Knull is steering Cletus towards a path of ruin and mayhem.

Knull stands as a cosmic force with profound implications for the Marvel Universe. As the architect of symbiotic chaos, Knull’s dark influence weaves through the intricate narratives of Venom, Carnage, and beyond. Absolute Carnage is an epic saga that explores the depths of Knull’s power and the symbiotic legacy within Marvel’s vast cosmic tapestry. As the cosmic darkness converges, the Marvel Universe braces for the impending storm orchestrated by the symbiote god, Knull.
