Fate/EXTRA Record is scheduled to launch worldwide on January 28, 2027 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Although PlayStation’s announcement focuses on PS5 and PS4, the confirmed launch plan also includes both Switch systems and PC. The date gives the Fate/EXTRA remake a new launch target after sales for its previous spring 2026 plan were discontinued. The official Fate/EXTRA Record website lists the release date and all five platforms.

An official PlayStation Blog announcement confirms that the PS5 and PS4 versions will arrive worldwide on the same date. The official game website confirms the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch versions, while the Steam store listing confirms the PC release. In other words, the announced release is not limited to PlayStation. Switch, Switch 2 and Steam are included in the current worldwide platform list.
What happened to the spring 2026 plan?
The January 2027 date follows a change in the game’s publishing and development structure. The legacy official website says Bandai Namco Entertainment discontinued sales of the game that had been planned for spring 2026.
TYPE-MOON subsequently announced on August 31, 2026 that Aniplex had been selected as publisher. The notice also confirmed changes to the project’s overall development structure and TYPE-MOON studio BB structure, but it did not state why those changes were made.
The current official game website credits Meteorise with development, TYPE-MOON with planning and Aniplex with publishing. Those credits supersede the specifications attached to the earlier spring 2026 plan.
What changes in the Fate/EXTRA remake?
Fate/EXTRA Record is a remake of Fate/EXTRA. The official PlayStation announcement highlights a Command Card deck-building combat system, while XSEED’s official game page describes an expanded narrative and a new strategic battle system combining turn-based combat with deck-building.
North American editions and prices
XSEED Games is handling the console editions in the Americas. Its announced North American physical prices are:
- Standard Edition: $59.99 on Nintendo Switch and PS5; $69.99 on Nintendo Switch 2
- Limited Edition: $89.99 on Nintendo Switch and PS5; $99.99 on Nintendo Switch 2
These prices apply only to the specified North American physical editions. XSEED says physical pre-orders will be offered through its online store and participating retailers, but it has not announced a pre-order date or retailer list.
Digital Deluxe content is also listed for the game, including on Steam. However, the available announcements do not establish PC pricing or confirm when digital console pre-orders will open in North America or Europe.
