GTA VI DualSense Preorders: Price, Time and Black vs White Availability

September 4, 2026 Off

Sony's two GTA VI DualSense controllers cost $84.99 in the US and begin launching November 19, but the black and white editions have different sales routes.

Sony has announced black and white Grand Theft Auto VI Limited Edition DualSense wireless controllers, but the two designs will not follow exactly the same retail route. The black edition is tied more closely to PlayStation Direct, while the white edition is also planned for participating retailers globally.

In the US, preorders for both controllers open through PlayStation Direct at 7:00 a.m. PT / 10:00 a.m. ET on September 10, 2026. According to Sony’s official controller announcement, each design has a recommended US retail price of $84.99. Sony says PlayStation Direct preorders will be offered in limited quantities but does not provide production totals, order limits, retailer allocations or restock plans.

GTA VI DualSense preorder details at a glance

  • US preorder date: September 10, 2026
  • US preorder time: 7:00 a.m. PT / 10:00 a.m. ET
  • Recommended US price: $84.99 for either design
  • Launch timing: Starting November 19, 2026
  • Confirmed US storefront: PlayStation Direct

Sony cautions that the exact launch date and availability may vary by country or region, so November 19 should not be treated as a guaranteed release date for both controllers in every market.

Black vs white: the availability difference

Sony names the products the DualSense Wireless Controller – Grand Theft Auto VI Black Limited Edition and the DualSense Wireless Controller – Grand Theft Auto VI White Limited Edition. Their most important practical difference is how Sony plans to sell them.

  • Black Limited Edition: Sony says the black controller will be exclusive to PlayStation Direct in territories where that store is available. It will be offered through select retailers in other regions.
  • White Limited Edition: Sony says the white controller will be available globally through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers.

That makes PlayStation Direct the only specifically named US storefront for either design so far. Sony has not identified any participating US retailers for the white controller, so buyers should not assume that a particular chain will carry it.

The black controller should not be described as unavailable from all retailers worldwide. Sony’s announcement expressly allows for select retailers to sell it in regions where PlayStation Direct is not available. The different routes also do not establish that either color has a smaller production run.

Price and November 19 launch timing

Sony lists recommended prices of $84.99 in the US, £74.99 in the UK, €84.99 in Europe and ¥12,480 including tax in Japan. Both editions are scheduled to begin launching on November 19, subject to Sony’s country-and-region caveat.

November 19, 2026 is also the date currently displayed on Rockstar Games’ official GTA VI page, which lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as the announced game platforms. Sony’s controller reveal does not announce a PS5 console, console cover, game bundle or other GTA VI hardware product.

What changes between the controller designs?

Both controllers feature what Sony describes as a shimmering, color-shifting finish, custom palm-tree details molded into the controller and official GTA VI branding. The announced distinction between the products is their black or white colorway and their different availability routes.

Sony also refers to the standard DualSense features of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Its announcement does not identify separate technical specifications or exclusive functionality for one GTA VI edition over the other. The controllers were presented during PlayStation’s September 3 State of Play, as confirmed by Sony’s official event recap.

What US buyers should do before preorders open

US customers interested in either design have one confirmed destination when orders open: PlayStation Direct at 7:00 a.m. PT / 10:00 a.m. ET on September 10. Those waiting for the white controller at another retailer should look for a separate retailer announcement rather than treating any unlisted store as confirmed.

Buyers outside the US should check whether PlayStation Direct operates in their territory and consult local retailers because Sony’s channel plan varies by region. As with what Rockstar has and has not confirmed about GTA VI on consoles, the announced details should be separated from speculation: Sony has confirmed the controller prices, US preorder time and regional sales framework, but not unit totals, order caps, complete retailer lists, restock plans or a sell-out forecast.
