Rayman Legends Retold Gets Fully 3D Overhaul, Bundled with Rayman Origins Enhanced for 2026 Release
June 4, 2026Rayman Legends Retold, a full 3D remake of Ubisoft’s classic 2D platformer, launches 1 October 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC—bundled with the newly enhanced Rayman Origins. Ubisoft confirms new levels, expanded gameplay, and four-player local co-op are included.
Ubisoft has officially announced Rayman Legends Retold, a comprehensive 3D reimagining of the critically acclaimed 2D platformer, set for release on 1 October 2026. The title will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC (via Ubisoft Store, Steam, and Epic). For Rayman’s 30th anniversary, Ubisoft is collaborating with the game’s original developer Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan, known for Mario + Rabbids, on this ambitious project. Notably, every copy of Rayman Legends Retold will include Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, bringing further value to fans and newcomers.
What’s New in Rayman Legends Retold?
Rayman Legends Retold isn’t merely a visual facelift. Ubisoft’s remake transforms the beloved 2D art into fully 3D graphics, a move designed, as stated on the PlayStation Blog, to deliver:
“an experience for a new generation of players.”
Every classic level returns with “new and improved gameplay,” plus entirely new content:
- New “mysterious” realm added to the lineup of stages.
- Four all-new musical stages, continuing the tradition of creative music-driven action.
- Cave of Trials content introduces ongoing free challenges for extended replayability.
- The overworld stage-select galleries become explorable hub levels, modernising progression flow.
- Adventurous new camera angles that dive into the action; for example, dynamic camera moves during high-speed zipline sections, as seen in the reveal trailer.
- Four-player couch co-op returns, along with the original’s competitive Kung Foot mini-game.
- “Dynamised” cutscenes aim to bring the light story more to the forefront, now fully voice acted.
- Soundtrack expanded and remastered by Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope.
The switch to 3D visuals provides an “eye-catching” interpretation rather than a simple remaster of original assets. As reporter Matt Wales notes, “Ubisoft’s fully 3D interpretation of the original game’s wonderful 2D visuals is certainly eye-catching, even if it perhaps doesn’t have quite the same charm.” The creative overhaul extends to gameplay structure, ensuring even returning players will find plenty of surprises.
Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition: Included Features
Ubisoft is directly addressing recent leaks about the Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition. Contrary to circulating rumours about a separate high-cost release, Ubisoft confirms this will be included, at no extra charge, with all copies of Rayman Legends Retold. The Origins Enhanced Edition features:
- 4K resolution support
- 60 frames per second gameplay
- New collectibles and rewards
- Haptic feedback support (platform dependent)
- Additional unannounced features to enhance replayability and collector interest
As the source material notes: “This Oranges [Origins] upgrade features 4K resolution, 60fps, new collectibles and rewards, haptic feedback support, and more.”
The integration of the enhanced Origins means that even if select original Rayman Legends bonus levels (from Origins) are repackaged, players receive the “40-or-so Oranges [Origins] levels” as a distinct, upgraded game. “Getting all the Oranges levels, albeit in a different package, is logically better than getting some of them, right?” observes Matt Wales.
Confirmed Launch Details
Rayman Legends Retold launches on 1 October 2026 and will be available on:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X/S
- Switch 2
- PC (Ubisoft Store, Steam, Epic Games Store)
All copies include Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition.
Development is led by Ubisoft Montpellier with support from Ubisoft Milan. Both games will feature full support for modern features, and enhanced performance, and both titles together promise a comprehensive showcase of Rayman’s platforming roots and modern innovation as the franchise celebrates its 30th anniversary.
In summary, Ubisoft delivers not just a straight-up remake but a hybrid package: a top-to-bottom 3D reimagining of Rayman Legends with new levels, visuals, and gameplay ideas, plus a bundled, high-spec remaster of Rayman Origins. For 2026 platforming, Rayman’s 30th birthday is a full celebration.
