What is Google One?

Google One is a service where you pay a monthly fee for extra storage. It works with Drive, Gmail, and Photos. But it’s not just storage. You also get cool extras like photo effects, discounts on Google products, and help from Google experts. Certain plans also now offer access to Google’s AI tool.

How is it different from Drive?

Before, Drive used to offer storage plans, but now Google One does that. Drive is now just for storing files, while Google One is a subscription service. There are different plans to choose from:

• 100 GB Basic Plan: Costs $2 a month or $20 a year.
• 200 GB Standard Plan: Costs $3 a month or $30 a year.
• 2 TB Premium Plan: Costs $10 a month or $100 a year.
• 2 TB AI Premium Plan: Costs $20 a month.

And if you get any plan starting from the Basic tier, you can share it with up to five family members. Different tiers have varying features, such as the 2TB Premium Plan which includes Google Workspace benefits. The AI-Premium plan includes all Premium benefits as well as AI-powered products like Gemini Advanced and integration of Gemini into Gmail and Docs.

There are also bigger plans available, however, as Wired points out, it is unlikely that 2TB won’t be enough:

• 5 TB: Costs $25 a month or $250 a year.
• 10 TB: Costs $50 a month.
• 20 TB: Costs $100 a month.
• 30 TB: Costs $150 a month.
