EA Hands Out Free Battlefield 6 Premium Battle Passes After App Outage Blocks Preorders

EA Hands Out Free Battlefield 6 Premium Battle Passes After App Outage Blocks Preorders

October 12, 2025 Off By Ibraheem Adeola

Battlefield 6 has barely launched, and frustrated players preordering through EA’s platform just got a surprise: locked out of their own game, they’re now getting a free premium Season Pass and a bundle of powerful boosters as an apology from the publisher.

This came after a sudden EA app outage on launch day. Anyone who bought Battlefield 6 directly from EA found themselves unable to access the game they’d already paid for. The timing couldn’t have been worse. Across social media, the complaints stacked up fast.

EA Responds: “An Apology… with Perks”

Within hours, EA fired off a public statement acknowledging the mess. “Today, we experienced an outage on the EA app that prevented some of our players who pre-ordered Battlefield 6 from accessing the game, and we know this can be frustrating, so we wanted to offer an apology… with perks,” the company posted.

While a technical fix quickly restored access, that wasn’t enough. EA promised everyone affected on the EA app would find a serious haul in their in-game inbox. 12 Hardware Boosters and 12 Career 60-Minute Boosters are being delivered directly, enough to make a noticeable difference in online progression and loadout flexibility, especially for early-game grinders.

But the biggest freebie is the complimentary premium Battle Pass, which gives players a full seasonal roadmap of rewards they otherwise would have had to buy. For those who picked up the game’s Phantom Edition, which includes its own perks, EA clarified that they’ll be granted Season 2’s Battle Pass instead, to make sure nobody misses out on exclusive content. “We want to apologise for this outage,” the publisher said, “To clarify, this is a single Battle Pass reward, but Phantom Edition includes Battlefield Pro, so we moved the reward out to accommodate.”

Impacted players won’t need to do anything except check their inbox; perks and timelines were outlined directly in the statement, with boosters expected to arrive over the weekend after the outage.

Historic Launch Numbers—But Big Queues and Player Frustration

The outage happened as Battlefield 6 smashed into Steam’s all-time charts, quickly ranking as the fourteenth biggest game ever on PC by concurrent player count just 24 hours after launch. Server queues stretched for hours as demand surged, and even before the outage, EA’s launch-day planning admitted that queues were expected.

Lead producer David Sirland publicly acknowledged the server situation, letting the community know giant queues weren’t a complete surprise; the backend teams were bracing for record-breaking interest from the start.

Player patience was already under pressure, with long login times and packed servers. The app outage felt like a knockout punch; for many, this was their first shot at the game, and being locked out sparked real anger. That’s a harsh way to start for any blockbuster, especially one as heavily hyped as Battlefield 6.

Despite the rocky rollout, the latest reviews make it clear that the core of Battlefield 6 still delivers where it matters. Critics say it offers a “thrilling multiplayer reset and a decent, if derivative single-player,” hinting there are still hang-ups about what makes Battlefield unique, but the catastrophic issues haven’t shaken fan interest.

Right now, the free Battle Passes and boosters feel like more than just a PR band-aid. For dedicated fans who waited (im)patiently for access, it’s a season’s worth of premium content, just for hanging in through launch turbulence. And by acting fast, EA is clearly hoping to swap some launch day frustration for long-term goodwill.
