Across social feeds and Discords, players kept telling the same nervous story: “Did you get jumpscared by a tumbleweed too?” Tumbleweeds aren’t just a quirky detail; they’re shaping how people actually move through the game. Extraction shooters like Arc Raiders have always taught you to watch your back, but right now, even seasoned veterans are jumping at rolling plants.

If you’ve played even one round of Arc Raiders, you know how one false move can mean instant death. Enemies hit hard and fast. The tumbleweed scare is a product of recent tweaks to Arc Raiders. Even returning players who thought they’d seen it all found themselves spooked, second-guessing every time a shadow rolled across the dirt. It’s a subtle bit of game design that’s doing real psychological work, players are constantly on edge.

This stress isn’t chasing people away. Quite the opposite: in just a few hours after launch, Arc Raiders hit nearly 100,000 concurrent players on Steam. Tension and chaos are part of the draw, and stories about “my wildest tumbleweed near-miss” are flying around the community faster than any kill montage.

With the full release set for 30th October, there’s only a short wait before even more players dive into this anxious landscape, completely unable to tell if the next clump of movement is an enemy squad or just another tumbleweed playing tricks on their nerves.
