Battlefield 6 Launches ‘Casual Breakthrough’ Mode: A Softer, Smarter Way to Earn XP
November 3, 2025Battlefield 6 just switched up its formula with a new mode called Casual Breakthrough, a direct answer for players wanting to rack up rewards without the fierce pressure of a standard PvP match. If you’re looking to earn Career XP, Weapon XP, Battle Pass XP, and complete Challenges while ditching the chaos of a full lobby, this is the biggest change since launch.
This fresh mode is now live under the Multiplayer tab, and it means you can finally dive in for a quick session without enduring the usual sweatfest. You’ll play in smaller, 8-person teams, each paired with sixteen bots per side, across a tighter selection of maps. It’s exactly the kind of low-stakes, high-reward gaming that the community’s been asking for.
How Casual Breakthrough Works: Break From the Sweat, Keep the Progress
The heart of Casual Breakthrough is its shift away from full PvP intensity. Instead of being thrown into a sprawling chaotic warzone, matches are built around two teams of 8 real players, just 16 humans total. Each team is then fleshed out with 16 bots, bringing the full team size to 24 but drastically lowering the intensity that often comes with unpredictable human opponents.
This mode isn’t just about taking it easy, it’s about smart progression. All actions against real players grant the same full XP as they would in standard multiplayer. If you’re farming bots, you’ll still make progress, but with reduced XP for those actions. This tweak keeps the system honest, making sure human-on-human victories matter most while still rewarding participation. The team was clear:
“To create a more relaxed way to play while still earning progression and completing challenges, we’re introducing Casual Breakthrough…”
Keep in mind, if you’re chasing dogtags, ranked accolades, or updating those big career stats, you’ll still need to hit the main PvP modes. Casual Breakthrough is about earning xp, moving through your battle pass, and targeting those daily or weekly challenge completions at a gentler pace.
The two maps currently available in this mode are Siege of Cairo and Empire State. Whether these become rotation staples or expand to other maps will likely depend on player feedback, which the dev team is actively seeking: “We’ll be monitoring your feedback to determine if further adjustments are needed in the future.”

‘Redsec’ Surprise and Battlefield 6’s Record-Breaking Start
The launch of Casual Breakthrough isn’t the only major shift for Battlefield 6 this week. Season One is now live, marking the first substantial expansion since the game arrived. On top of that, the development team shadow-dropped a new battle royale mode called Redsec, catching the community by surprise and adding yet another option for veterans and newcomers alike.
Battlefield 6 has already shattered franchise records, racking up more than seven million copies sold in under a week. The rabid playerbase has wasted no time picking apart the new content, with Easter egg hunts in full swing. One persistent fan already managed to find a hidden room attached to the game’s shooting range, a nod to the franchise’s long history of secrets and surprises.
Between the new relaxed mode, the launch of Redsec, and consistently high engagement, Battlefield 6’s first season feels like the franchise firing on all cylinders. If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to jump back in, or dial the difficulty down without feeling left behind, Casual Breakthrough just gave you what you need.
