Bots Are Back in Battlefield 6: Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush Modes Receive Major Tweaks
November 10, 2025Bots are making a comeback in Battlefield 6‘s most popular modes, marking a serious reversal from the earlier decision to remove them. Starting now, you’ll see up to 12 bots in Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush, a move aimed at keeping games filled and fast-moving, even when player numbers dip.
EA and Battlefield Studios say bots were “originally removed as part of efforts to support healthier matchmaking,” but they’re officially returning to what’s being called “verified experiences”. If you’ve turned off bot backfill, you’ll need at least 20 real players to start a match. Switch it on, and only eight actual humans are required for a lobby to launch.
But there are some fine print details you shouldn’t ignore. Bot kills grant reduced XP compared to taking out real opponents. However, player XP rates are untouched; staying level with what you’d expect from standard multiplayer. And if bots are in play, your personal stats, including hours played, kill/death ratio, revives, and more, won’t go up or down. The team admits this is “not currently working as intended” and is working on adjustments, so expect further change.
Lock-Guided Missile Pulled from Vehicles, “Relaxed” Play Added
Battlefield 6 isn’t stopping at bots. The developers have temporarily removed the Lock-Guided Missile (MR Missile) from the Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) due to issues with the vehicle’s countermeasures. If you’ve noticed your missile loadout looking a little light, that’s why. This change is already in effect and will apply from your very next match. Battlefield Studios says it hopes to have the fix deployed “next week.”

We've temporarily disabled the Lock-Guided Missile (MR Missile) for the Infantry Fighting Vehicle as we work to address inconsistencies witnessed with this vehicle's countermeasures.

Challenges remain fully completable with bots enabled, so you won’t miss out on milestone progress. This is a critical detail for anyone grinding class or weapon assignments, or unlocking upgrades. This fits into a bigger line-up of tweaks: earlier this week, the studio reduced requirements across class assignments, weapon assignments, gameplay, and mastery milestones. The idea is to give players a smoother, faster path through Battlefield 6’s progression system.
Last weekend saw another tweak, temporary XP adjustments in Strikepoint as the team tests out solutions for XP balancing. These changes are part of ongoing efforts to create what EA calls a “relaxed way” to play: a new system where you can play more casually, keep earning progression, and still check off challenges.
What This Means for Battlefield 6 Players

If you’ve missed having bots fill out your matches, or if you’re looking for more accessible ways to progress and experiment in Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush, this update changes how the game flows. By bringing bots back, while tweaking XP and locking out stat increases when they’re enabled, Battlefield Studios is walking a careful line between accessible play and fair competition.
Keep an eye on the Infantry Fighting Vehicle as well, since the loss of its Lock-Guided Missile shifts its battlefield role for now, at least until a fix arrives.
Between streamlined challenges and temporary XP changes in Strikepoint, expect a faster-moving progression system and more variety in your matches. EA and the developers say these are just the latest in a series of ongoing updates, so you can bet more adjustments are on the horizon.
