April 29, 2026 Off By Ibraheem Adeola

Square Enix has released the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo for Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, covering Chapters 1 and 2, with the full game set for release on both platforms on 3 June 2026. Demo players can transfer save data and unlock exclusive bonuses at launch.

Square Enix has made the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo available for download immediately on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, expanding access beyond PlayStation 5, which received the full release in February 2024. The second chapter of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy will debut on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S on 3 June 2026, bringing the game’s release schedule in line across all major current-generation consoles.

The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo enables players to experience Chapters 1 and 2 of the main game. According to Square Enix, these sections offer “several hours of gameplay“, including the Nibelheim flashback sequence featuring Cloud and Sephiroth, exploration of the Grasslands open region, and in-depth access to both combat and side content. The demo introduces the game’s Synergy Abilities battle system, giving players the opportunity to experiment with character-specific combo attacks.

Additional accessibility is embedded through the new ‘Streamlined Progression’ settings, which let players toggle unlimited HP and MP, an always-full ATB gauge, and easier weapon ability acquisition to prioritise story progression over difficulty. Crucially, save data from the demo will transfer into the full game when it’s released, letting players continue where they left off and rewarding demo participation.

Square Enix confirms: “Playing the demo will also unlock bonuses for the full game, including a Kupo Charm which boosts the chance of collecting extra materials, and a Survival Set.”

The Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are now available for pre-order, with a 20% discount running until 10 June 2026. Square Enix has detailed the specific pre-order and deluxe digital bonuses for each platform:

  • Standard Edition Pre-order Bonuses: Moogle Trio and Posh Chocobo Summoning Materia, Shinra Bangle Mk II (armour), and Midgar Bangle Mk II (armour)
  • Digital Deluxe Edition Includes: Magic Pot Summoning Materia, Reclamant Choker accessory, Orchid Bracelet armour, a digital art book, and a digital mini soundtrack

All available versions can be secured now via digital storefronts, with purchasers incentivised by tiered content and early-adopter discounts. These direct, practical incentives are structured to bring parity and excitement to Switch and Xbox ecosystems that have historically received mainline Final Fantasy releases later than PlayStation.

Square Enix has also recently announced that Final Fantasy 14 Online will launch on Switch 2 in August 2026, giving Nintendo owners unprecedented access to mainline and MMO Final Fantasy experiences within a single platform generation.
