Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV roadmap: October and December 2026 content

Gran Turismo 7’s free Spec IV update will arrive in two parts rather than as a single patch. Polyphony Digital has scheduled the first release for October 2026 and the second for December 2026, although exact patch dates have not been announced.
The split determines when players will receive the update’s two circuits, new modes and 12 cars. Sportsland SUGO is assigned to October, while Autumn Ring and several competitive, family and AI-related additions are scheduled for December. Six cars are due in each release, but Polyphony has not named the models or assigned any specific model to either month. Here is the confirmed roadmap, followed by the details that remain unannounced.
Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV release schedule
The official Gran Turismo Spec IV announcement describes both releases as parts of a free update. October and December are the only launch windows confirmed so far; no exact release dates, launch times or download sizes have been provided.
Polyphony Digital president and Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi explained the decision in an official PlayStation.Blog post:
“Due to the number of updates coming in Spec IV, it will be released in two parts, with the first arriving in October and the second in December.”
Yamauchi also said Spec IV is being prepared to begin the celebrations for the original Gran Turismo’s 30th anniversary in 2027.
What the October 2026 update includes
According to Polyphony’s official October list, the first half of Spec IV will add:
- Sportsland SUGO
- Six new cars, with the models still unannounced
- A new opening cinematic
- Vintage
- Car Concierge
- Experience
- Car Viewer
- A higher Collector Level cap
Those are the official feature names, but the announcement does not explain how Vintage, Car Concierge or Experience will work. Polyphony has also not revealed the new Collector Level limit or any rewards associated with it.
What the December 2026 update includes
The second half of Spec IV is scheduled to add the following content in December:
- Autumn Ring
- Six more new cars, with the models still unannounced
- Family Mode
- Shuffle Race
- Online Drift Trial
- The next evolution of Gran Turismo Sophy
- A new Power Pack difficulty level
Autumn Ring will return with its familiar original layout and what the official announcement calls a “new, greatly expanded configuration.” Polyphony has not yet detailed that configuration, the changes coming to Gran Turismo Sophy or the operation of the new Power Pack difficulty level.
Spec IV as a whole is described as free. The announcement does not provide separate pricing, access or implementation details for the Power Pack feature, so no additional purchase requirement has been confirmed.
Are the 12 Spec IV cars confirmed?
The total is confirmed: Spec IV will add six cars in October and another six in December. The individual models are not yet official, however, and Polyphony has not said which specific cars belong to each release.
Yamauchi stated in the official developer announcement: “A total of 12 cars will be added across both Spec IV updates. The exact cars will be revealed at a later time.”
Cars visible in the announcement trailer should therefore not be presented as the complete roster or treated as confirmation of the October group. Independent specialist coverage may identify vehicles shown in the footage, but the final lineup remains unannounced.
When will Polyphony reveal more?
Polyphony says it will reveal more information during Gran Turismo World Series Round 3 in Singapore on October 3, 2026. The official post does not promise that the presentation will include exact patch dates, the complete car lineup or full explanations of the new modes.
Until then, the practical roadmap is limited to the announced windows and feature lists: Sportsland SUGO, six unnamed cars and the first group of features are due in October; Autumn Ring, six further unnamed cars, Family Mode, Shuffle Race, Online Drift Trial, the next Sophy evolution and the Power Pack difficulty level are due in December. More precise dates and content details remain to be announced.
