Xbox games for October 5–9, 2026: Game Pass vs paid releases

October 4, 2026 Off

Gears of War: E-Day has a confirmed October 6 date for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

By Ibraheem Adeola

The main Xbox Game Pass release for October 5–9 has a clear date and a specific list of eligible plans: Gears of War: E-Day joins Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on Tuesday, October 6. That full-game subscription date is separate from the Premium Edition access that began on October 1.

The rest of the week requires more care. Xbox also lists Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] for October 6, while Echo Weaver and Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival arrive on October 8. A weekly-release listing, a Game Pass label and a confirmed plan-level entitlement do not all mean the same thing, so here is what Xbox players can safely plan around.

Xbox Game Pass access at a glance

  • Game Pass Ultimate: Gears of War: E-Day is confirmed for October 6.
  • PC Game Pass: Gears of War: E-Day is confirmed for October 6.
  • Game Pass Premium or Essential: Xbox’s supplied Game Pass announcement does not list either plan as providing the full game.
  • Echo Weaver: Xbox labels it “Game Pass” in the weekly roundup, but that post does not identify an eligible membership tier.
  • Star Wars: Galactic Racer: the available official material presents it as a multiplatform launch and does not announce Game Pass inclusion.
  • Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival: the Xbox Store lists it for $39.99, with no Game Pass inclusion confirmed in the supplied material.

October 6: Gears of War: E-Day is the confirmed Game Pass release

Microsoft’s Game Pass announcement assigns Gears of War: E-Day to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from October 6. The announcement lists Xbox Series X|S, handheld, PC and cloud availability.

Do not confuse that date with Premium Edition access. As explained in last week’s Xbox releases and Game Pass access guide, the Premium Edition window began on October 1. The documented full-game subscription date for Ultimate and PC Game Pass is October 6; an Ultimate subscription alone should not be treated as Premium Edition access on October 1.

The official Gears of War: E-Day page also identifies October 6 as the day-one date for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Players on Premium or Essential should not infer full-game access from that wording because those plans are not named in the tier-specific announcement.

Also on October 6: releases without confirmed Game Pass access

Xbox’s weekly release roundup schedules Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] for the same day as Gears of War: E-Day. Neither game appears in the supplied Game Pass announcement, so neither should be treated as a confirmed subscription inclusion.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is a multiplatform release rather than an Xbox-console exclusive. Lucasfilm’s official announcement gives it an October 6 worldwide launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC. The available announcement does not identify it as a Game Pass game.

For Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III], Xbox’s weekly roundup supports the October 6 date, but the supplied evidence does not establish a Game Pass entitlement, price or regional product details. Check the final Xbox Store listing for your region before buying.

October 8: Echo Weaver has a Game Pass label but no named tier

Echo Weaver is scheduled for Xbox on October 8. Xbox’s weekly roundup applies both “Game Pass” and “Xbox Play Anywhere” labels to the game. Publisher Akupara Games also lists an October 8 release on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch 2 in a development update.

The unresolved point is the eligible Game Pass plan. The retrieved tier-specific announcement that names Gears of War: E-Day does not mention Echo Weaver, and the weekly roundup does not say whether its label applies to Ultimate, Premium, PC Game Pass, Essential or some combination of those plans.

That makes Echo Weaver a title to monitor rather than one to assign to a particular subscription. Check the Game Pass section of the Xbox app or a later Xbox announcement before relying on access through your current plan.

October 8: Hellraiser is listed as a $39.99 purchase

Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival has more specific store information. Its Xbox Store listing gives it an October 8 release date, a $39.99 price and support for Xbox Series X|S and PC. No Game Pass inclusion is confirmed in the supplied material.

The week’s practical split is therefore straightforward: Ultimate and PC Game Pass members have confirmed access to Gears of War: E-Day on October 6; players interested in Hellraiser: Revival should expect the listed purchase price; and prospective Echo Weaver players still need a plan-level clarification from Xbox.

A quieter October 8 alternative: Forever Ago

If combat, racing and horror are not the right fit, Forever Ago is also scheduled to reach Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 8. The Associated Press describes it as a road-trip game about Alfred, his dog and his camera, making it a lower-key narrative option. The supplied evidence does not identify a Game Pass entitlement for it.

Check for changes before release

Xbox says dates in its weekly roundup are subject to change. Check the relevant Xbox Store page and the Game Pass section of the Xbox app shortly before launch, particularly for Echo Weaver, whose weekly Game Pass label does not yet provide the plan-level detail Xbox supplied for Gears of War: E-Day.
