Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO Cross-Play Beta: Platforms, Timing and Roadmap Explained

October 12, 2026 Off

Bandai Namco plans to test Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO cross-play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam after summer 2027.

Bandai Namco plans to hold a limited Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO cross-play beta, but it has not announced a finished cross-play launch or support for every version of the game. Bandai Namco’s October 9, 2026 roadmap announcement places the test after summer 2027 and names PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam as the participating platforms.

The distinction matters for players hoping to arrange online matches across different systems. Bandai Namco states: “The Cross Play beta will be tested in a limited capacity.” The company says official-release details will be shared later, but it has not provided an exact beta date, an enrollment process, a supported-mode list or a date for a finished cross-play release.

Which platforms are included in the Sparking! ZERO cross-play beta?

Bandai Namco’s announced beta covers three platforms:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Steam

Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 are not named in the beta announcement. That omission does not prove that the Nintendo versions will never receive cross-play, but there is currently no basis for including them in this particular test.

The timing must also be read carefully. “After summer 2027” is a broad roadmap window, not a specific start date, and it refers to beta testing rather than the release of a completed cross-play feature.

PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam roadmap

Cross-play is one of several items on the 2026–2027 roadmap. Before the beta window, Bandai Namco plans to expand the game with Tower of Power and upgraded versions of existing activities.

The Dragon Ball Official Site says Tower of Power will begin as a solo mode. It then places Tower of Power Team-up around spring 2027, with players able to team up online in groups of up to five. Mission 100 SP and Survival Mode SP are also planned as expanded versions of their existing modes.

The official announcement says release timing varies by platform, but its article text does not reproduce every cell from the accompanying roadmap graphic. Siliconera’s platform-by-platform reading of that roadmap places Tower of Power Solo in winter 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, followed by Team-up, Mission 100 SP and Survival Mode SP in spring 2027. The limited cross-play beta is planned later, after summer 2027.

What the roadmap means for Switch and Switch 2

Switch and Switch 2 owners are following a different schedule. Bandai Namco says roadmap timing varies by platform, while Siliconera’s reading places the Nintendo versions later than the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC group for the listed free-mode updates.

There is also a platform difference for the paid Super Limit-Breaking NEO content. Bandai Namco says it is available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. The official Dragon Ball update says the Switch and Switch 2 editions will arrive at a later date without giving a more precise window in its text.

Nintendo Life’s reading of the roadmap graphic places the Nintendo NEO DLC release in spring 2027. That remains a release window rather than a specific date, and players should watch for a direct platform-store or publisher announcement before treating it as final scheduling.

The free-update content does not require ownership of Super Limit-Breaking NEO, according to the official franchise post. Tower of Power, Mission 100 SP and Survival Mode SP are therefore not presented as features locked behind the NEO DLC purchase.

What is confirmed and what remains unknown

Bandai Namco has confirmed a 2026–2027 program of events, free updates, game modes and additional fighters. It has also identified the planned cross-play beta window and its three eligible platforms. The official product page lists the game itself for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Several practical details remain unanswered. Bandai Namco has not said how players will enter the beta, whether participation will be restricted by region or invitation, or which online modes and settings will work across platforms. It has also not said whether Switch or Switch 2 will eventually receive cross-play.

The practical takeaway is that PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam players have a limited cross-play beta planned for sometime after summer 2027. Switch and Switch 2 players are not included in that announcement and should follow the separate Nintendo schedule for free updates and the NEO DLC.
