This remastered edition introduces three exhilarating new modes—Speedrun, Permadeath, and Horde Assault—that promise to challenge even the most seasoned survivors.

Speedrun Mode: Race Against the Apocalypse
For those who believe they can outrun the end of the world, the new Speedrun mode offers a chance to prove it. Players can tackle the game’s campaign on any difficulty, with an always-on-screen timer that pauses during cinematics, ensuring every second counts. At the end of each run, detailed stats are displayed, allowing players to share their achievements and compete for the fastest completion times.
Permadeath Mode: One Life to Ride
Permadeath mode raises the stakes by offering two unforgiving options: Whole Game and Per Act. In Whole Game mode, a single death means starting over from the beginning, while Per Act mode resets progress to the start of the current act upon death. This mode was inspired by community feedback and is designed for those seeking the ultimate survival challenge.
Horde Assault Mode: Endless Waves of Terror
Horde Assault transforms the game into a survival arcade experience. Players start with a sidearm and must fight through waves of Freakers to reach their Drifter bike. Supply Boxes scattered across the map provide random weapons, including a new flamethrower not available in the story mode. Surviving for 30 minutes triggers the Ultimate Horde—a relentless, never-ending wave of enemies.
Enhanced Visuals and Accessibility Features
Days Gone Remastered takes full advantage of the PS5’s capabilities, offering improved graphical fidelity, increased foliage draw distance, and enhanced shadow and lighting quality. The game supports both Quality and Performance modes, catering to players’ preferences for resolution or framerate. Additionally, new accessibility features have been added, including High Contrast mode, Game Speed adjustments, UI Narration, Collectible Audio Cues, Controller Remapping, and a Field of View slider.
DualSense Controller Integration
The remaster utilizes the DualSense controller‘s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to immerse players further into Deacon’s world. Feel the rumble of the bike’s engine, the resistance of various weapons, and the patter of rain as you navigate the treacherous landscape.
Upgrade Options and Availability
Players who own the original Days Gone on PS4 can upgrade to the remastered version for $10. The new game modes—Speedrun, Permadeath, and Horde Assault—are also available to PC players through the Broken Road DLC.
