Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Hits 5 Million Sales, Devs Promise Major Update With New Bosses and Area
October 9, 2025Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 just hit a milestone worth bragging about: five million copies sold worldwide since launch. The developers at Sandfall Interactive didn’t waste time celebrating behind closed doors; they immediately revealed that a massive update is on the way. If you’ve already finished the campaign or are hungry for more, you’ll want to hear what’s coming.
The upcoming content isn’t some minor patch. Players can expect a new playable location packed with fresh enemies, late-game boss fights, and a haul of customisation options. Sandfall is also making the game accessible to even more fans with several new language options and some secret additions the studio is keeping tight-lipped about for now.
New Adventures and Customisation on the Horizon
The update, currently in development for all platforms, introduces a “brand-new location” for the Expedition 33 cast. According to Sandfall, this environment will feature unique enemies and surprises that haven’t appeared anywhere else in the game. For late-game players, there’s even tougher content: fresh boss battles designed to test your skills after the main story is done.
There’s also some flair for those who care about style. Each Expedition member is getting new costumes, so you can outfit your favourite team the way you want throughout the adventure. This isn’t just for aesthetics, customisation has always been part of the Expedition 33 appeal, and now there’s more of it.
Accessibility is getting a boost, too. The upcoming patch will introduce game text and UI localisations in seven more languages: Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian. That brings the total number of supported languages to 19, making it even easier for new fans worldwide to join in.
Sandfall Interactive Thanks Its Global Fanbase

Creative director Guillaume Broche made it clear that the developers are feeling grateful and a little overwhelmed by the support. “The response to our game has been nothing short of incredible,” Broche said. “We spent years working on our dream project, and to know it has resonated with fans around the world in such a powerful way is both wonderful and overwhelming.”
The team isn’t just paying lip service to its player base, either. Broche recognised the community’s creativity, highlighting the outpouring of fan art, music covers, and Baguette cosplays at conventions. “We’re so grateful to our fans for their love of the world we created, for sharing their own fan art and music covers, for wearing their best Baguette cosplays to conventions, and for being incredibly supportive of our game.”
If you’re eager to get your hands on all this new content, patience is key. “We hope the update we’re working on will act as a ‘thank you’ to those fans for their support – please be patient while our team work hard on bringing you something worth the wait,” Broche added.
And that’s not all, Sandfall is promising “even more surprises” that they’re not ready to reveal just yet. With a player base now topping five million and a studio hungry to give back, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s update is shaping up to be much more than just a post-launch patch.
