CONTROL Resonant Assist Mode lets players tune combat without losing trophies
September 10, 2026Remedy says CONTROL Resonant will let players adjust individual combat friction points instead of choosing a fixed difficulty, without disabling trophies or achievements.
CONTROL Resonant will not ask players to commit to one fixed difficulty setting. Remedy Entertainment says its expanded Assist Mode will allow players to adjust specific parts of combat, including dodge timing, enemy aggression and damage, during gameplay. Using the announced options will not prevent players from earning trophies or achievements.
The pre-launch details come from a developer-authored PlayStation Blog post by Remedy lead gameplay designer Sergey Mohov. They provide the clearest answer yet for players wondering how much they can tailor Resonant’s close-range, dodge-focused combat when the game arrives on September 24, 2026.
How CONTROL Resonant’s Assist Mode works

Rather than relying only on a small set of traditional difficulty levels, Remedy describes Assist Mode as a collection of individual combat adjustments. The intended approach is to let players alter the particular mechanic causing difficulty without necessarily changing every other part of the experience.
“The idea is simple: instead of asking you to choose an overall difficulty, we let you change the specific parts of combat that aren’t working for you.”

According to Remedy, players will be able to adjust the following options:
- Enemy Aggression
- Perfect Dodge Window
- Enemy Projectile Speed
- Incoming Damage
- Outgoing Damage
- Outgoing Falter
- Power Recovery Speed
- Enhanced Melee Magnetizing
Remedy says Outgoing Falter affects how quickly an enemy’s posture breaks, while Enhanced Melee Magnetizing makes melee positioning more forgiving. The announcement does not specify the numerical ranges, default values or precise effects of every setting.
Assist Mode will also include Immortality, One-Hit Kills and the new One-Hit Falters option. Remedy has not detailed whether any of these settings will be unavailable in particular gameplay situations, so the announcement should be treated as a confirmed feature list rather than a complete settings manual.
Can you change Assist Mode during a playthrough?
Yes. Remedy says Assist Mode can be enabled or disabled at any point during gameplay. Players can begin with an Assist Mode preset and then refine individual settings instead of being locked into an early difficulty choice.
That flexibility is particularly relevant to combat built around close-quarters encounters and timed dodges. Mohov describes Resonant’s combat as demanding and close-range in the Assist Mode announcement. A separate Epic Games Store interview reports Mohov saying the game has no ranged weapons, although some abilities can work at range.
Players looking for a tougher run are included too. Remedy says Resonant’s settings can work in both directions, unlike Assist Mode in the original Control, which could only reduce the challenge. Higher enemy aggression, a smaller Perfect Dodge Window and increased incoming damage are among the examples Remedy gives for making combat more demanding.
Does Assist Mode disable trophies or achievements?
No. Remedy says it will not gate any trophies or achievements behind Assist Mode. Players will therefore be able to use the announced combat adjustments, including Immortality, One-Hit Kills and One-Hit Falters, without disabling trophies or achievements on that basis.
This is a pre-launch policy announced by Remedy rather than a feature TheDashDouble has independently tested. The announcement does not establish the exact implementation, menu wording or availability of every setting on every platform. It also does not outline broader accessibility options such as control remapping, subtitle presentation, audio tools or visual-accessibility settings.
When does CONTROL Resonant release?
CONTROL Resonant’s September 24 release date and story-trailer reveal were previously covered in TheDashDouble’s State of Play roundup. Remedy’s official game page lists September 24, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, and GeForce NOW. A Mac version is planned for later in 2026.
The Assist Mode details were published through PlayStation Blog, and that post does not confirm whether every setting will be identical on Xbox, PC, GeForce NOW or the later Mac version. The confirmed practical takeaway is that Remedy intends to let players adjust individual combat barriers—or deliberately make combat harder—without sacrificing trophies or achievements.
