Control Resonant roadmap: when New Game++ and Photo Mode are planned
September 26, 2026Remedy’s initial Control Resonant roadmap targets New Game++ for October and Photo Mode for November.
Control Resonant’s first post-launch roadmap does not make New Game++ or Photo Mode available yet. As of September 26, 2026, Remedy is targeting October for New Game++ and November for Photo Mode. Those are monthly windows rather than announced patch dates, so neither feature has a confirmed release day. Remedy’s roadmap sets out the plan, while contemporaneous reports from GamingBolt and Tbreak corroborate the timing.
The practical choice is straightforward. If you want to start a second playthrough immediately, the launch version’s New Game+ already supports one. If you want to chain further runs while retaining accumulated progress, waiting for New Game++ is the more sensible option. Players primarily interested in taking composed screenshots should wait for Photo Mode, which is planned for November but does not yet have a detailed feature list.
What New Game++ changes from the launch New Game+

Control Resonant launched with New Game+, not New Game++. In the existing mode, much of Dylan’s progression carries into a new run: upgrades, resource improvements, abilities, talents and artifacts persist. Traversal abilities are the key exception because they remain tied to story progression and must be unlocked again during the next playthrough. Remedy explained that structure in its pre-launch New Game+ overview on PlayStation Blog.
At launch, that system supports one additional run. The planned New Game++ update is intended to let players begin successive New Game+ runs without erasing the progress they have accumulated. Remedy summarized the intended repeatability with the line, “Do 665 runs if you want!” That is a playful description of repeat runs, not a promise of 665 distinct campaigns, new story branches or a defined feature cap.
That distinction matters because Remedy has not announced enemy scaling, another difficulty level, exclusive rewards, fresh missions or narrative changes for New Game++. The confirmed purpose is to let players continue the replay loop while preserving progress; a more detailed mechanical breakdown has not been provided.
Should you replay Control Resonant now or wait?
- Replay now if you want to revisit the campaign using the progression that already carries into New Game+, and you do not mind reacquiring traversal abilities through the story.
- Wait for New Game++ if your goal is to complete successive playthroughs without erasing accumulated progress after the current extra run.
- Wait for Photo Mode if screenshots are your priority. The roadmap gives November as the target window but does not identify its camera, lighting, pose, filter or export options.

Why Photo Mode is planned for after launch

In its roadmap, Remedy says Photo Mode has been in development for some time but that it prioritized getting the game into the best possible condition for launch. The studio also says it consulted virtual photographers from the community while developing the feature. That provides context for the post-launch timing, but it does not reveal what the finished toolset will include.
In other words, November is a target for adding Photo Mode, not a confirmed release date or a list of controls. Until Remedy publishes more information, there is no confirmation of free-camera range, character poses, depth-of-field settings, lighting controls, filters, accessibility features or image-export options.
What the roadmap does not announce
Remedy says more cosmetic pieces for Dylan are planned for later updates. The roadmap does not provide a release date, item list or indication of whether those cosmetics will be free, paid or connected to a promotion.
The roadmap also does not confirm a story expansion, season pass or wider downloadable-content program. Nor does it commit to new difficulty tiers, New Game++ rewards or a simultaneous rollout schedule across platforms. Tbreak’s report on the roadmap’s scope likewise notes the absence of a confirmed expansion or season pass.
Control Resonant’s official Steam page lists Remedy Entertainment as both developer and publisher and records the game’s release date as September 24, 2026. For now, the announced post-launch plan consists of the October New Game++ target, the November Photo Mode target and additional Dylan cosmetics at unspecified later dates.
