Death Stranding 2 Gameplay Premiere Will Be Streamed – And It’s Full Kojima Mode

Death Stranding 2 Gameplay Premiere Will Be Streamed – And It’s Full Kojima Mode

June 2, 2025 Off By Ibraheem Adeola

Hideo Kojima isn’t just releasing Death Stranding 2. He’s throwing a global party, kicking off with a live panel and gameplay showcase on June 8—and you’re all invited. Just don’t expect sandcastles and mojitos, because this “beach” is packed with surreal vibes, cryptic trailers, and probably a monologue about the nature of human connection.

Officially dubbed the “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach” Game Premiere, the event marks the first stop of Kojima Productions’ global tour. It’ll take place at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Geoff Keighley—because, of course. The man shows up to more Kojima events than Fragile shows up soaked in Timefall.

Watch Trailer on YouTube

And here’s the best part: you can stream the entire thing live on YouTube. That means no need to fly to LA, dodge cosplay lines, or pretend you understand Kojima’s metaphors on the first watch. Just tune in, sit back, and let the weirdness wash over you like a wave of metaphorical tar.

What’s on the (virtual) menu?

The event promises a panel discussion featuring Kojima himself alongside “special guests.” No names have been confirmed yet, but if we’re going by past guest lists, it could be anyone from Norman Reedus to a surprise hologram of Guillermo del Toro reading poetry. Because… Kojima.

But beyond the philosophical deep dives, expect something fans have been dying for: live gameplay of Death Stranding 2. Not another cryptic trailer with babies crying in jars or Sam hauling a ladder across Iceland. This is where we’ll see the actual game mechanics in action—how it feels, what’s changed, and how many cargo-delivery upgrades Norman Reedus has strapped to his spine this time.

According to Kojima Productions, this will be our “first proper look” at the world and systems of Death Stranding 2, ahead of its scheduled release on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5. And judging by the name “On the Beach,” we might be returning to that eerie coastal limbo we saw at the end of the first game. Time to unpack your trauma and oxygen mask, folks.

Why the world tour?

Because a game this dramatic needs a tour, apparently. After the LA launch, Kojima and crew will travel to major cities including Paris, London, Hong Kong, Sydney, and finally Lucca in November. The goal? Let fans around the world experience the themes and artistry of Death Stranding 2 in immersive ways. Also, it’s Kojima. If the man could project the game trailer onto the moon, he would.

This isn’t just another marketing event. It’s a Kojima Experience™. That means mind-bending metaphors, fan theories spinning out of control, and at least one moment where you question your own existence while watching a beach ball roll in slow motion.

What time does it stream?

If you’re in the US, set your clocks for 7 PM PDT on June 8. If you’re in the UK, you’ll be catching it at 3 AM on June 9. We’re not saying skip sleep for Kojima—but let’s just say sleep is for the un-Stranded. The livestream will be available on YouTube, and knowing Kojima, it’ll be archived and dissected frame by frame by the fanbase within hours. Expect Reddit threads, easter egg hunts, and theories involving whales, umbilical cords, and the fall of mankind.
