Fortnite’s Doja Cat Collab Launches with Halloween Hype—and an Unexpected Sex Toy Tweet Blunder

Fortnite’s Doja Cat Collab Launches with Halloween Hype—and an Unexpected Sex Toy Tweet Blunder

October 11, 2025 Off By Ibraheem Adeola

Fortnite’s Fortnitemares 2025 event was set to open with a showstopping collaboration featuring superstar Doja Cat and a lineup of horror icons. Instead, it kicked off with a social media mishap that got fans talking for all the wrong reasons.

As the event launched, the official Fortnite X (formerly Twitter) account went viral, not for its new skins, but for an offbeat post referencing “rose toys.” Given the timing, many followers instantly assumed it was a nod to sex toys, not a Halloween treat. The post used Doja Cat’s in-game avatar as its profile picture, sending confusion (and a dash of outrage) through Fortnite’s massive player base.

How an Accidental Tweet Upstaged Fortnite’s Halloween Update

The plan was simple: Doja Cat would take over the Fortnite X account on launch day, helping drum up excitement for the big Fortnitemares reveal. What actually happened was pure internet chaos. The account’s since-deleted message left fans wondering if it was an inside joke gone rogue or an accidental marketing fiasco.

Doja Cat herself weighed in on the drama, posting, “I told them not to man, that’s not even me. I said this yesterday and then said ‘don’t post that’ :/.” The tweet didn’t last long; Epic pulled it quickly, but not before major outlets like Kotaku grabbed screen shots. The whole exchange left fans speculating about whether it was a planned stunt or a true blunder, but considering Fortnite’s all-ages reputation, Epic would never intentionally post about sex toys on its official feed. Eurogamer is waiting for an official explanation from the publisher.

This isn’t the first time Fortnite’s marketing has backfired. Just last month, Epic yanked the Peacemaker dance emote over accidental Nazi associations. A new, edited version of the emote is set to go live today, with Epic stressing there were “no creative intentions” to connect it to the controversial imagery.

What’s Actually in Fortnitemares 2025?

Viral tweets aside, there’s plenty for fans to dig into. Fortnitemares is Fortnite’s annual Halloween event, running now through November 1. This year, in-game skins feature horror royalty; think Jason, Ghostface, Scooby-Doo, and more, with the action centred on Nitemare Island, a Fortnite Reload map packed with freaky locales.

Two new Jam Tracks from Doja Cat’s fresh album ‘Vie’ also join the game: “AAAHH MEN!” and “Gorgeous” drop as unlockable content, making this crossover bigger than just visual flair. A flashy, horror-packed gameplay trailer set the tone, piling on the haunted house excitement all event long.

So even as the Doja Cat tweet overshadowed opening day, Fortnitemares 2025 stays true to its roots: mixing pop culture power with Halloween spookiness, ensuring players dive into the weird, the wild, and occasionally the unexpectedly awkward.
