Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West unavailable on UK Steam: Sony responds

September 17, 2026 Off

Sony says it is working with Valve, but it has not explained the issue or announced when access will return.

Sony Interactive Entertainment says it is working with Valve on a UK Steam availability issue after package records for Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition showed that new purchases and activation were blocked in the United Kingdom. The company has not explained the cause or given a restoration date.

In a statement provided to Video Games Chronicle, a Sony Interactive Entertainment spokesperson said: “We are aware of an issue affecting the availability of select titles on Steam in the UK. We are working with Valve to address the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

What is confirmed for UK Steam customers

SteamDB package history captured on 16 September 2026 shows no British-pound price for Helldivers 2 and states that the package could not be activated or purchased in the United Kingdom. The record also names Great Britain and the Isle of Man.

SteamDB’s record for Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition, captured on the same date, likewise shows no UK price and says the package could not be activated or purchased in the United Kingdom. Great Britain and the Isle of Man also appear in its restriction list.

Those records establish purchase and activation restrictions for the two packages at the time of capture. They do not show that either game was removed from existing libraries or made unplayable for people who already owned it.

The package records contain other country entries as well, so the available evidence does not establish that the underlying package change affected only the UK. The reported disruption and Sony’s response are specifically focused on UK availability.

Can existing owners still play?

VGC reports that people who already have the affected games in their Steam libraries can still play them. Sony’s quoted response did not separately address existing-owner access, so this is an attributed report rather than a confirmed Steam or Sony policy statement.

What UK players can do now

  • If you do not own either game, the dated package records indicate that purchasing through Steam in the UK is blocked.
  • If you already own one of the games, check your Steam library. VGC reports that existing owners retain access.
  • Do not buy a third-party key on the assumption that it will activate. The records identify an activation restriction, and the reviewed sources do not clarify how externally purchased keys are handled.
  • Check the relevant Steam listing for a change in availability. Sony says it is addressing the issue with Valve but has announced no deadline.

PlayStation’s official UK Helldivers 2 product page still identifies the game as a PC title and links visitors to Steam. It does not explain the purchasing restriction or provide an estimate for restoration.

What Sony has not said

No reviewed source establishes why the restrictions appeared, whether the cause lies with Sony, Valve or another factor, or when UK purchasing access will return. Sony referred to “select titles,” but its statement did not provide a complete list; the available package evidence directly confirms Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition. Sony’s response also does not support claims of a permanent delisting or a legal or regulatory cause.
