Helldivers 2 will “never” include PvP mode
Johan Pilestedt, the CEO of Arrowhead, addressed the decision, emphasizing their dedication to creating a space where players can collaborate rather than compete against each other. “We’ll ‘never’ add a PvP-mode. This is to reduce toxic elements from the community,” said Pilestedt. “We want an environment that’s supportive, fun and where we all are fighting on the same side!”
The announcement came in response to a fan inquiry regarding the potential inclusion of a PvP mode to cater to “hardcore gamers.” Arrowhead’s stance highlights their prioritization of inclusivity and camaraderie over competitive gameplay.

Since its launch on February 8th, Helldivers 2 has experienced tremendous success, becoming PlayStation Studios’ most successful Steam release to date. Despite initial matchmaking and progression issues, players have embraced the game’s chaotic and comedic firefights, particularly when playing with friends.
While the decision to forgo PvP for Helldivers 2 may disappoint some players, Arrowhead’s commitment to creating a positive and welcoming gaming environment reflects a broader industry trend towards prioritizing community well-being over intense competition.
As Helldivers 2 continues to evolve and expand, its emphasis on cooperative play sets a precedent for future multiplayer games, demonstrating that success can be achieved without sacrificing the values of inclusivity and mutual support.
