Krafton Expands RPG Portfolio with Acquisition of Last Epoch Studio Eleventh Hour Games
July 26, 2025Krafton, publisher of hits like PUBG and The Callisto Protocol, has acquired Eleventh Hour Games, the indie studio behind action RPG Last Epoch. In a move that underscores its commitment to the role-playing genre, Krafton has officially acquired Eleventh Hour Games, the Texas-based indie studio responsible for developing the isometric hack-and-slash action RPG Last Epoch. The acquisition was confirmed today and reflects Krafton’s ongoing strategy to bolster its portfolio with long-term service games across various genres.
The deal will see Eleventh Hour Games continue to operate independently, even as it becomes part of the Krafton family. “We fully intend for EHG to continue to operate independently, both in terms of decision-making and operations,” Krafton stated. “However, we also plan to support EHG in areas where it makes sense for the game’s growth and in areas where EHG wants help – recognising that there are a lot of areas where they can and want to continue to do everything themselves.”
This statement signals Krafton’s recognition of Eleventh Hour Games’ success and its desire to maintain the creative foundation that made Last Epoch a standout in the RPG space.
What the Acquisition Means for Last Epoch

Last Epoch began development in 2018 and eventually launched in full in February 2024 following a successful early access period. The game has since seen consistent updates with quality-of-life improvements, new content, and balance patches. It offers a deep and customisable character-building system, and its gameplay is heavily oriented around loot-driven progression with a blend of single-player and multiplayer functionality. The game sits comfortably within the hack-and-slash and action RPG niche, drawing comparisons to genre heavyweights like Diablo.
Given Krafton’s backing, the team at Eleventh Hour Games will now have additional resources to support the development and long-term success of Last Epoch. Krafton’s role, based on the publisher’s statement, will primarily focus on areas “where it makes sense for the game’s growth,” while still allowing EHG to maintain operational control.
The focus, therefore, appears to be on supporting rather than steering the project. This approach is especially relevant for a live-service title where frequent patches, seasonal events, and content expansions represent a significant organisational and financial undertaking. Krafton’s history of supporting long-service titles suggests it may offer Eleventh Hour Games assistance with infrastructure, networking, marketing, and live-ops at scale. This could lead to more polished seasonal content and enhanced server stability for Last Epoch, especially as its multiplayer audience continues to grow.
