No DLC for Spider-Man 2, But Here’s What’s Coming Next
October 19, 2024In a surprising move, Insomniac Games has officially confirmed that there will be no story DLC for Spider-Man 2. Fans who were eagerly awaiting more content similar to The City That Never Sleeps expansion from the first game will have to look elsewhere. Insomniac has instead shifted focus to other exciting projects like the upcoming Wolverine game and a rumoured X-Men title. While the game won’t get new story content, Spider-Man 2 will offer New Game+, new suits, and colour variants for both PS5 and its newly announced PC version.
“While we have no additional story content planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’re delighted to bring all of our previously released post-launch content to the PC version, including New Game+, new suits and colour variants, Photo Mode features, and more,” said Espinoza.
Insomniac’s decision to skip DLC this time contrasts with the original Spider-Man (2018), which saw post-launch expansions that added to its story. Despite this, the developer has packed the base game with substantial features, including its expansive world and tons of unlockable suits that should keep fans busy.
This shift may signal Insomniac’s dedication to larger projects, such as its upcoming Wolverine game, which has already generated substantial buzz. It’s also worth noting that Spider-Man 3 is already on the horizon, so fans of the web-slinger will definitely have more content coming—just in a different package than they might have expected.
