PS Plus Set to Get Silent Hill 2 Remake as Konami Hints at More Horror Revivals

PS Plus Set to Get Silent Hill 2 Remake as Konami Hints at More Horror Revivals

October 7, 2025 Off By Ibraheem Adeola

Konami and Bloober Team’s acclaimed 2024 Silent Hill 2 remake is reportedly heading to the PlayStation Plus Extra catalogue this October, nearly one year after it first terrified fans on PlayStation 5 and PC.

The leak comes from Billbil-kun, a respected source in the games industry known for reliable early information. According to their latest scoop, you’ll be able to download the remake via Sony’s subscription service from Tuesday, October 21.

If this timing holds true, the Silent Hill 2 remake joins PS Plus almost a year to the day after its original launch, echoing Sony’s push to give Extra-tier members access to top-tier horror experiences just in time for Halloween.

Why the Silent Hill 2 Remake Matters Right Now

Released last October, Silent Hill 2’s remake quickly won over critics and fans. The game sports a Metacritic score of 87 on PC and 86 on PS5, cementing its place as one of the most polished survival horror remakes in recent memory.

If you missed it at launch, the remake delivers a meticulous reimagining of the PS2 classic. According to VGC’s review, it “proves the doubters wrong,” praising the project as “a faithful take on a survival horror classic.” In a year already bursting with big horror releases, this one stood out, earning high marks for its atmosphere and attention to detail.

This catalogue addition puts PlayStation Plus subscribers in a prime spot. It’s an invitation for both longtime fans and those just discovering Silent Hill’s eerie world, all without any extra cost if you’re already a member of the Extra tier.

What’s Next: Xbox Version Rumoured, and More Remakes in the Pipeline

There’s more at play than just a PS Plus drop. Dusk Golem, another name in the rumour circuit, recently suggested Konami’s got an Xbox version of the Silent Hill 2 remake on the way. Their claim goes hand-in-hand with rumblings of a PS5 Pro patch in the works. Nothing is confirmed, but if these rumours turn into reality, expect a bigger audience and possibly performance upgrades for the remake in the near future.

As anticipation grows, Konami and Bloober Team aren’t done with Silent Hill remakes. Earlier this year, both companies announced plans to collaborate once more, this time targeting a remake of the original Silent Hill. The studio shared in a press release: “The trust built upon the success of Silent Hill 2 laid the foundation for signing another agreement for a new project.” Bloober Team emphasised that “the deal aligns with [our] strategic plan to expand its internal development division within a first-party framework.”

It’s clear the partnership paid off for both companies and for fans. The return of psychological horror to the main stage is entering a new era, led by studios that understand what made the originals tick.

October is shaping up to be a can’t-miss moment for Silent Hill fans and PlayStation Plus subscribers. The remake’s critical reputation, pending rumours, and a pipeline of new remakes mean the franchise isn’t losing momentum. Now, all eyes are on the official word from Sony and Konami.
