Take-Two Q1 FY2027 earnings reveal no GTA 6 pre-order sales figure
August 8, 2026The report provides no GTA VI pre-order total or dollar value.
Take-Two’s first earnings report after Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders opened did not disclose how many pre-orders the company received, what they were worth or how much they contributed to the quarter.
The publisher instead reiterated its fiscal-2027 net-bookings outlook of $8.0 billion to $8.2 billion and continued to list GTA VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 19 November 2026. The maintained outlook shows that Take-Two has not lowered its company-wide forecast, but it is neither a newly raised target nor a disclosed measure of GTA VI pre-order demand.
What Take-Two’s Q1 FY2027 earnings actually show
For the quarter ended 30 June 2026, Take-Two preliminarily reported $1.386 billion in net bookings. That was slightly above the company’s guidance range of $1.32 billion to $1.37 billion, but it was down 3% from $1.423 billion in the comparable quarter a year earlier.
Take-Two said the result exceeded its expectations primarily because of better-than-expected performance from NBA 2K and the Grand Theft Auto series. The presentation separately reported 3% growth in recurrent consumer spending across the GTA series.
That wording does not isolate GTA VI. The Grand Theft Auto series includes more than the forthcoming game, and Take-Two did not provide a title-by-title allocation of quarterly net bookings. Its earnings materials contain no GTA VI pre-order unit total, dollar value or stated share of the $1.386 billion result.
The supported conclusion is therefore limited: Take-Two finished the quarter ahead of its own bookings guidance, with the broader GTA series among the contributors. The published materials do not establish whether GTA VI pre-orders materially drove the result or, if they did, by how much.
Why the quarter does not settle the GTA 6 pre-order question

Rockstar and Take-Two announced that GTA VI pre-orders would begin on 25 June 2026. The reported quarter ended on 30 June, five days after pre-orders opened. That timing confirms only that the pre-order launch occurred shortly before the quarter closed. Take-Two did not explain what amount of GTA VI pre-order activity, if any, was included in the reported net-bookings total. A company-wide quarterly result cannot therefore be treated as a quantified measure of early demand for Rockstar’s game.
The $8.0-$8.2 billion outlook was reiterated, not raised
Take-Two management has explicitly connected its confidence in the fiscal year to GTA VI’s planned launch. In the company’s earnings release, chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick said: “With these positive trends and excitement around the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, we are reiterating our Fiscal 2027 Net Bookings outlook of $8.0 to $8.2 billion.”
“Reiterating” is the important distinction. Take-Two had already issued the same $8.0 billion to $8.2 billion fiscal-2027 outlook in May 2026. The August report confirms that the range remains in place; it does not amount to an upgraded forecast following the start of pre-orders.
The range is also a forward-looking company forecast, not booked revenue or a guarantee of GTA VI sales. Take-Two cautions in its release that forward-looking statements are subject to risks and that actual outcomes may differ materially.
Take-Two also recorded a $43.4 million impairment
Separately, Take-Two recorded a $43.4 million impairment charge after deciding not to continue developing an unannounced title from a third-party developer. The company did not identify the project or developer, leaving no evidential basis for connecting the decision to a particular game or studio.
For players following GTA VI, the concrete update is that the 19 November 2026 console release date remains on Take-Two’s official schedule and its $8.0 billion to $8.2 billion annual net-bookings forecast is unchanged. The pre-order picture remains undisclosed: Take-Two supplied no GTA VI-specific unit count, dollar value or contribution to quarterly bookings.
