Xbox App Is Coming to Select TCL Smart TVs, but Model Support Is Still Unknown

Xbox is bringing its app to select TCL Smart TVs, giving eligible owners a future way to stream Xbox games without connecting a console. However, the practical answer for anyone wondering whether their current TCL set will get Xbox Cloud Gaming is: not yet known. Xbox announced on September 4, 2026, that the app will arrive on select TCL Smart TVs “in the coming months.” The partnership is intended to reach TCL TV users in more than 25 countries, but Xbox has not published a country-by-country list.
Which TCL TVs will get the Xbox app?
TCL has not named any supported model numbers, television platforms or launch markets. Its own announcement says the experience will be enabled in phases through a future software update, with specific models, markets and timing to be announced later.
That means it is too early to assume every TCL television will be included, including every TCL Google TV, Roku TV or other regional smart-TV variant. Both companies describe support as applying to select or eligible models, subject to TCL product qualification and Xbox requirements.
For now, TCL owners should wait for a compatibility announcement from TCL rather than searching for the Xbox app on their TV today. Neither company has said whether support will be limited by model year, hardware or operating system.
What will be needed to play?
Xbox says the TCL version will require a supported smart TV, a compatible controller and cloud playtime. That playtime can be included with Xbox Game Pass or sold separately, according to the Xbox partnership announcement.
The app can remove the need to attach an Xbox console for cloud-streamed play, but it is not the same as putting console hardware inside the television. Performance will still depend on the connection, the player’s location and the device. Xbox recommends a connection of 20 Mbps or higher, using wired internet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi for the best experience, in its TV cloud-gaming guidance.
Availability can also vary by region and platform. Until TCL publishes its list, there is no confirmed answer on whether a particular TV in a particular country will qualify.
Cloud gaming limits matter from November
The TCL announcement arrives just after Xbox confirmed a new monthly cloud-playtime model beginning in November 2026. Under the announced allowances, Game Pass Ultimate will include 15 cloud-gaming hours a month, Premium will include 10 hours and Essential will include five. Players who use those included hours will be able to buy more through the Xbox Store, although Xbox has not announced the price or all market details for additional time.

What TCL owners should do now
- Do not expect the Xbox app to be available on TCL TVs immediately.
- Wait for TCL to confirm compatible model numbers, markets and rollout timing.
- Make sure you have, or can obtain, a controller supported by Xbox’s TV cloud-gaming service.
- Check that your home connection is suitable for streaming, preferably with wired networking or 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
- Factor in Xbox’s November cloud-playtime allowances if the app is intended to become your main way to play.

Until TCL supplies the missing model and market details, the safest expectation is a phased release for some sets in the coming months.
