Xbox UK prices rise: Series X now £669.99 and Series S starts at £429.99

Microsoft’s Xbox console price update has reached the UK. The UK Microsoft Store now lists the standard Xbox Series X at £669.99, while the 512GB Xbox Series S starts at £429.99.
The figures follow Microsoft’s announcement that it would update Xbox console prices worldwide from 1 August 2026. For UK buyers, the practical question is how the current listings compare with Microsoft’s previously published prices, and whether an official refurbished console offers better value.
What Xbox costs in the UK now
The following prices were listed on the UK Microsoft Store when checked on 4 August 2026. The comparison uses Microsoft’s published UK recommended retail prices from 1 May 2025. It should not be read as confirmation that each difference resulted from a single price increase.

Official refurbished Xbox consoles cost less
Microsoft’s UK storefront also lists certified-refurbished hardware below the new-console prices. A certified-refurbished Xbox Series X is listed at £549.99, which is £120 less than the new Series X listing. A certified-refurbished Xbox Series S is listed at £349.99, £80 less than the new 512GB Series S listing.
Those prices make the refurbished range worth checking for buyers focused on reducing the upfront cost. Confirm the exact model, storage capacity, availability and product-page terms before buying because Microsoft presents the new and refurbished consoles as separate offers.
Why Microsoft says Xbox prices changed
Microsoft confirmed the timing in a 25 June Xbox Wire announcement: “Effective August 1, 2026, we will be updating prices worldwide.” Explaining the decision, Microsoft said “console storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5x”.
The announcement also said Microsoft would sunset the 2TB Xbox Series X model. However, the UK Microsoft Store was still listing the 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition when checked on 4 August, so buyers should not assume that model has already disappeared from sale. Microsoft has not provided an exact UK phase-out date.
What the new Xbox prices mean for UK buyers
For a new console bought directly from Microsoft, £429.99 is now the entry price for the 512GB Xbox Series S, while £669.99 is the listed price of the standard Series X. Microsoft’s certified-refurbished listings provide lower-priced alternatives on its UK store: £349.99 for a Series S and £549.99 for a Series X. Microsoft’s worldwide announcement does not include a country-by-country European price table. Euro prices have been reported independently by PC Gamer, but the figures above are limited to prices verified directly through Microsoft’s UK storefront.
