Marvel Games Boss Promises Years More Collaboration with Insomniac Beyond Wolverine

November 7, 2025 Off By Ibraheem Adeola

Marvel’s Wolverine is locked in for a fall 2026 release on PS5, but Marvel Games says that’s nowhere near the end of its partnership with Insomniac. In fact, you can expect this creative alliance to stretch far into the future. Haluk Mentes, general manager at Marvel Games, has set the record straight: Insomniac isn’t just a partner, it’s become a part of the Marvel family. That means Spider-Man and Wolverine are just the beginning.

Insomniac and Marvel: Decade-Long Chemistry, No End in Sight

Insomniac has spent over a decade crafting four major Marvel games, delivering Marvel’s Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Spider-Man 2; all critical and commercial hits. Now, as the studio pours its energy into Wolverine, fans have started buzzing about what’s next. The official word from Marvel? This collaboration is built to last.

Speaking to Game Informer, Haluk Mentes dug into Marvel’s approach to gaming, describing a “no regrets” philosophy. “We’ve spent upwards of a decade building the Marvel Games portfolio, and it’s been fun watching the tapestry unfold game-by-game and to see players’ reactions,” Mentes explained. Every decision on what games to greenlight is weighed against a simple test: if the team looked back decades from now, would they be happy with the choices? Regret isn’t on the table.

Marvel is an almost 90-year-old creative brand, yet it’s as fresh as ever because during all that time, each new generation grew up with Marvel, ultimately became creators and left their mark, and then passed the torch to the next generation,” Mentes continued. The team feels a real responsibility—they’re not just entertaining this generation, but also setting the stage for future fans and creators, many of whom might have their very first Marvel experience in a game.

When it comes to continuing relationships, Mentes said it plainly: “We also actively seek collaborators that want to take on the same mantle. As is usually the case, once we complete a project together, they, too, become ‘Marvel’.” For him, Insomniac is the ultimate example. The collaboration runs so deep that when it came time to bring Wolverine back into games, there was no debate: Insomniac was the clear pick.

We have been working together for more than a decade and developed such a shorthand… that when the time finally came to bring Logan back in spectacular and visceral fashion, it was obvious to everyone on our team that Insomniac was the perfect choice,” Mentes said. The blend of shared culture and values keeps their partnership strong, with Mentes making it clear: “We’re so proud to continue collaborating for many years to come.”

What Comes After Wolverine? Signs Point to Venom

Don’t expect Insomniac to call it quits after Wolverine. Earlier this year, rumours kicked up about a Venom spin-off following the main game’s release. Spider-Man 2, released in 2023, put fans behind the monstrous anti-hero for an extended section, with a unique move set and new gameplay hooks, fueling speculation that Venom deserves his shot at a standalone adventure.

Back then, Insomniac senior narrative director Jon Paquette addressed the fans directly. The studio is paying close attention to the community’s appetite for spin-offs, making it clear they’re listening before committing to another project in the web-slinger’s world.

While Insomniac hasn’t officially revealed what’s lined up next, the relationship with Marvel Games is locked in for the long term. If you’re a fan of what Insomniac’s done so far, there’s every reason to be excited for what’s on deck.
