Ubisoft to Reveal Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced Remake – Official Live Stream Set for April 23

April 21, 2026 Off By Ibraheem Adeola

Ubisoft will officially unveil Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, a full remake of the 2013 classic, during a live stream event on Thursday, April 23, at 6 PM CEST / 9 AM PDT. The announcement confirms months of industry speculation and marks the return of the franchise’s most acclaimed pirate adventure.

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced has been confirmed by Ubisoft and is scheduled for its official reveal via live stream on April 23, 2026. This remake revisits the original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, which first launched in 2013 and is widely considered a high point in the franchise’s history. The storyline follows Welsh pirate Edward Kenway as he navigates the West Indies during the Golden Age of Piracy from 1715 to 1722. Black Flag’s narrative connects directly to the series’ wider lore, featuring Kenway as the grandfather of Assassin’s Creed III protagonist Connor.

The confirmation arrives after a prolonged period of rumours and hints. Last month, Ubisoft posted a reveal image that confirmed the “Resynced” project, ending years of speculation about a new take on Black Flag. Franchise leader Jean Guesdon addressed the speculation, stating:

“Speculation around Assassin’s Creed is not new, but it’s worth repeating: ‘Nothing is true. Everything is permitted’,” wrote Guesdon. “Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon.”

This remake is being developed under the guidance of the newly announced Assassin’s Creed leadership team, which includes veterans from the original Black Flag project. Ubisoft’s restructuring hands creative control to Martin Schelling, Jean Guesdon, and François de Billy, industry veterans with deep roots in the series. Vantage Studios, a newly-formed Ubisoft subsidiary part-funded by Tencent, will oversee development. Guesdon, known as creative director for both Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Origins, is joined by Schelling and De Billy, who both held production roles on the original Black Flag. Their stewardship is expected to ensure fidelity to the original vision while modernising the gameplay and technology.

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remains a touchstone for both players and industry critics, noted for its open-world naval exploration and historical storytelling. The 2026 remake under the “Resynced” title aims to modernise the classic while preserving the spirit and scope of the original. Expect to learn detailed gameplay and technical updates during the upcoming April 23 stream.

The wider Assassin’s Creed brand is also expanding beyond games, with Netflix filming a live-action Assassin’s Creed series as of March 2026. This demonstrates Ubisoft’s ongoing commitment to leveraging its flagship IP across major entertainment platforms.
