WoW Forever stress test: October 19 times, how to join and wipe rules
October 17, 2026World of Warcraft: Forever’s open stress test begins on October 19, 2026.
World of Warcraft: Forever’s stress test opens on October 19, 2026, and anyone with a WoW account is eligible to participate. You do not need an active subscription, Game Time, an invitation or beta access. This is not a free weekend, a launch head start or a way to reserve a character name: Blizzard will wipe the characters, names and guilds created during the test.
The short version is to select the separately listed stress-test build in Battle.net, join when the test begins in your region and treat everything created on its realms as temporary.
WoW Forever stress test start times
- North America: 2:00 p.m. PDT on October 19
- Europe: 19:00 CEST on October 19
- Taiwan: 05:00 CST on October 20
- Korea: 06:00 KST on October 20
Those are the regional times published in Blizzard’s stress-test announcement. Blizzard has not announced a fixed finish time. Its announcement says the window may end early or run later as needed, while the official forum post says the test is expected to remain available for a few hours. Players should not calculate or rely on a specific closing time.
Who can join the WoW Forever stress test?

You need a World of Warcraft account, but you do not need an active subscription or Game Time for this test. Blizzard also says an invitation and access to the Forever beta are not required. That makes the window available to WoW account holders who are not currently subscribed or enrolled in the beta.
According to Blizzard community manager Kaivax’s official forum post, the test will run on the regional production hardware intended for the live game. Its purpose is to put that infrastructure under load, not to provide an early start to the full release.
How to install and enter the stress test
- Open the Battle.net desktop app and select World of Warcraft.
- Open the game-version selector.
- Under In Development, choose World of Warcraft: Forever Stress Test.
- Install the selected version.
- After the event begins, launch it, choose an available test realm and create a new test character.
Blizzard’s instructions identify the stress test as its own selectable version in Battle.net. If that option becomes available before your regional start time, installing it in advance would avoid using part of the limited test window for the download. Blizzard has not confirmed a universal pre-download time or published an installation size, however, so do not assume that every region will see the option in advance.
Will the WoW Forever beta go offline?
Yes, temporarily. Blizzard says the Forever beta will be taken offline shortly before the stress test and should return shortly after it ends. Existing beta players therefore should not expect ordinary beta access to remain available throughout the stress-test window.
The interruption does not replace the remainder of the beta schedule. Blizzard has separately said that October 21 will be the final full day of beta testing.
What carries over from the stress test?
Characters, names and guilds created on the stress-test realms will not carry over. Do not use the session in an attempt to secure a launch name, establish a permanent guild or retain character progress.
“This is a complete wipe; names and everything else will be completely removed.”
That is the exact wording used by Blizzard community manager Kaivax in the official stress-test forum post. The statement concerns material created during this stress test; it should not be read as saying that Blizzard will delete existing beta characters or local files and settings.
What happens after the test?
Blizzard says the beta should return shortly after the stress test, with October 21 designated as its final full testing day. The publisher then plans an early name-reservation period from October 27 through November 3 for eligible pre-purchasers, followed by the stated global launch on November 4.
Taking part in the stress test does not itself grant access to early name reservation. That later benefit is tied to the pre-purchase eligibility described by Blizzard, while all names created during the stress test will be wiped.
The main planning detail is the uncertain end time: join as close to your regional start as practical if you want to participate, but expect every character, name and guild created during the session to disappear afterward.
