Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access Is Live: Who Can Play Now

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 campaign early access is live as of October 16, 2026, but this is a campaign-only access period rather than an early launch for the entire game. Eligible players can complete the story now, while DMZ early access begins October 20 and the full game launches October 23.
Activision’s official announcement confirms that qualifying players receive access to the complete campaign until the official launch.
Who can play the Modern Warfare 4 campaign now?
Campaign early access is available to players who digitally pre-order or pre-purchase either the Standard Digital Edition or Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 4.
The official announcement consistently describes eligibility in terms of digital purchases. It does not establish whether a physical pre-order qualifies.
The eligible platforms are:
- Xbox Series X|S
- Xbox on PC
- PlayStation 5
- Battle.net
- Steam
- Nintendo Switch 2
Activision lists those editions and platforms in its campaign early-access announcement. Xbox Wire also confirmed on October 16 that campaign access was available.
What can players access early?
The current window covers the entire Modern Warfare 4 campaign. It is not a general early-access period for every part of the game.
Activision has separately scheduled DMZ early access for October 20 and the full Modern Warfare 4 launch for October 23, 2026. Its campaign announcement does not list Multiplayer as part of the campaign-access window.
Playing the campaign can also unlock completion rewards intended for use in Multiplayer and DMZ once the full game launches, according to Activision.
Is there an official Modern Warfare 4 campaign unlock time?
The materials reviewed for this update do not provide a precise campaign unlock hour for each platform or region. Activision’s announcement and its Modern Warfare 4 edition page give an October 16 start date without publishing a universal clock time. The edition page also warns that actual play time can vary because of time zones and outages.
PC Gamer reported on October 16 that Activision had not disclosed an exact campaign early-access unlock time. Regional or platform-specific hours not published by Activision should therefore be treated as unconfirmed.
