PlayStation Plus August 2026 games: what should you play first?
July 30, 2026August's PlayStation Plus games basically suit three different situations.
The PlayStation Plus August 2026 games give subscribers three very different choices. Start with Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition for action that works alone or with friends. Pick Big Walk only if you already have a group. Choose Signalis for a solo survival-horror game built around exploration and puzzles.
Sony says all three can be added to your library from August 4 through August 31, 2026. Platform support differs by game, and Monthly Games can vary by region. Check each title’s platform label in your local PlayStation Store before downloading it.
Quick guide to the PlayStation Plus August 2026 games
- Playing alone but may want co-op later? Start with Dying Light 2.
- Have a regular group that can arrange several sessions? Start with Big Walk.
- Want a solo horror game with puzzles and limited supplies? Start with Signalis.
These are not quality rankings. The recommendations are based on each game’s confirmed player format and style. Dying Light 2 gives you the most flexibility. Big Walk depends on an organised group. Signalis is designed for solo play.
Start with Dying Light 2 for solo play and optional co-op

Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition is the broadest fit if you are unsure what you want. It is a survival action-adventure set in a city overrun by infected creatures. You can begin alone without waiting for friends to join you. The PlayStation Plus announcement says Dying Light 2 supports up to four players in co-op. One person can host while as many as three friends join. Players can also join games hosted by other people.
That makes it the most flexible group option in the August lineup. You can play alone one evening and arrange a small co-op session another night. The Reloaded Edition includes more than the original release. Techland says it contains the Firearms Update, changes from more than 10 earlier updates and the Bloody Ties story expansion. Choose Dying Light 2 first if you want an action game without a fixed social commitment. Its co-op support is available when you want it, but you do not need to organise a group before starting.
Choose Big Walk only if you already have a group

Big Walk comes with the most important warning in this lineup. It has no full solo mode and no online matchmaking, which is the system many games use to pair you with strangers. In its official FAQ, developer House House says a solo player can only walk around briefly. The studio says the wider game is designed for the same group to return across several sessions. House House puts it plainly: “Big Walk is entirely about teamwork and talking.”
Big Walk is therefore a poor first download if you plan to play alone. It is also unsuitable if you expected to press a button and join random players. You must arrange the group yourself. House House’s press kit says the game supports groups of two to 12 players. It also supports crossplay, which lets friends on supported platforms play together.
Think of Big Walk as a recurring game night rather than a quick online match. It should fit a group that can talk through problems and return to the same shared adventure. A group that rarely gets the same people online may struggle to continue. GameSpot’s hands-on preview reports that reaching the ending may take about 12 to 20 hours. That is an estimate from the publication’s preview, not an official completion time. It still suggests that groups should expect more than one session.
Pick Signalis for solo survival horror

Signalis is the clear choice if you want to play alone. It follows a lone Replika, an artificial human, as she searches through a strange and hostile setting. The game combines exploration, puzzles and encounters with nightmarish creatures. Developer rose-engine describes it as classic survival horror. PlayStation’s game page also highlights limited supplies and challenging riddles. Limited supplies mean ammunition and healing items must be used carefully. Signalis asks you to search rooms, solve puzzles and decide when fighting is worth the cost. Start here if you want tense, puzzle-led horror without any need for co-op. It is the most direct choice for someone who expects to play the entire game alone.
Which August PlayStation Plus game should you play first?
For the broadest fit, start with Dying Light 2. It works as a solo action game and supports a small co-op group when friends are available. Choose Big Walk instead if you have at least one other player and can keep the group together over several sessions. Its lack of solo play and matchmaking defines who can realistically play it. Choose Signalis if you want to play alone and prefer careful exploration, puzzles and survival horror over co-op action. You can add all three games to your library before August 31 if they are available in your region. Big Walk is the one to plan around other people; the other two can be started alone.
