Nintendo Direct September 2026: Zelda and Switch 2 dates, times and how to watch
September 5, 2026Here are the confirmed U.S. start times, runtimes and subjects for the Zelda and Switch 2 broadcasts.
Nintendo has confirmed two separate presentations for consecutive days in September 2026. The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct airs on Tuesday, September 8, followed by a general Nintendo Direct on Wednesday, September 9. Both begin at the same U.S. time.
The split is important: Nintendo describes the first as an anniversary program covering Zelda-related information, while its UK announcement gives the second a winter Nintendo Switch 2 software focus. Nintendo has not named the individual games or products for either broadcast.
Nintendo Direct September 2026 schedule

- Tuesday, September 8, 2026: The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct starts at 7 a.m. PDT / 10 a.m. EDT and is expected to last approximately 30 minutes.
- Wednesday, September 9, 2026: Nintendo Direct 9.9.2026 starts at 7 a.m. PDT / 10 a.m. EDT and is expected to run for approximately 45 minutes.
Nintendo’s official U.S. event page confirms the dates, Pacific start times and approximate runtimes. Nintendo Life independently lists the corresponding North American times as 7 a.m. PDT and 10 a.m. EDT.
What is confirmed for the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct?
Nintendo says the September 8 presentation will contain a variety of Zelda-related information connected to the series’ 40th anniversary. Its official UK announcement also confirms that the presentation will last roughly 30 minutes. The announcement does not identify any individual Zelda game, remake, hardware product, film material, Nintendo Switch Online addition or merchandise. None of those possibilities should be treated as part of the program unless Nintendo announces it separately or shows it during the presentation.
What is the September 9 Nintendo Direct for?
The September 9 broadcast is a separate presentation rather than a second Zelda anniversary show. According to Nintendo UK’s official Direct page, its approximately 45 minutes will focus on games coming to Nintendo Switch 2 this winter. Nintendo has not named the games that will appear. It has confirmed that Nintendo Treehouse: Live will follow the September 9 Direct with gameplay from select titles featured during the presentation. The event page does not provide a separate start time or duration for the Treehouse broadcast.
How to watch
Viewers can check Nintendo’s September Direct event page for the latest official viewing information. Nintendo also says the presentations will be available through the Nintendo Today! app.
Nintendo had not identified separate YouTube watch-page URLs in the announcement information available at publication. Any later viewing link should be verified as an official Nintendo upload or stream before use.
For now, the confirmed plan is straightforward: September 8 is the Zelda 40th-anniversary presentation, while September 9 is the winter Switch 2 games Direct, followed by Nintendo Treehouse gameplay.
