Assassin’s Creed Shadows Fans Just Dropped a Wishlist – And Ubisoft Should Probably Take Notes

March 25, 2025 Off By Ibraheem Adeola

Ubisoft may have nailed the landing with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but the fans? Oh, they’re not done yet. If there’s one thing the Assassin’s Creed community loves more than parkour off rooftops, it’s suggesting ways to make things even better—and let’s just say Reddit has been busy lately.

The game’s reception has been warm, the world-building is stunning, and Yasuke and Naoe have quickly earned their spot as fan-favorite assassins. But just like every shinobi needs a few extra kunai, Shadows could use a few tweaks and additions—at least, according to the ever-passionate player base.

Fans Want the Clock Back (Literally)

One of the most requested features? The return of the meditate mechanic—you know, the one that lets you pass time and shift from day to night (or vice versa). It’s been a staple in previous entries like Origins and Valhalla, and players miss the freedom to time their stealthy escapades under the cover of darkness.

Right now, if you want to sneak through a heavily guarded compound as Naoe (whose stealth gets a buff at night), you’re at the mercy of the in-game clock. And let’s be honest—nobody wants to awkwardly loiter behind a rock for ten real-world minutes just waiting for sunset.

Mount Autopilot: The Feature We Didn’t Know We Needed (Until It Was Gone)

Another big shout from fans: bring back horse autopilot. Yep, Valhalla and Odyssey both had it—just set a waypoint and let your mount follow the road while you sip your coffee or, more realistically, check your phone. In Shadows, you’re expected to stay alert. The roads are full of dynamic events—civilians in need, bandits lurking, and sometimes even resources to steal or borrow. And while some players love the spontaneity, others wouldn’t mind zoning out on a scenic ride through feudal Japan every now and then.

Let Us Sit Down, Literally

Believe it or not, one of the top requests is something so simple it’s kind of poetic: players want to sit down anywhere in the world. Whether it’s on a temple step or under a sakura tree, fans want to soak in the world they’ve spent hours sneaking through. And hey, with the gorgeous views Ubisoft created, can you blame them?

Custom Style Requests (and Weirdly Specific Wishes)

Customization has always been a cornerstone of Assassin’s Creed, and Shadows could use a little extra polish here. Fans are asking for:

  • Hair and beard customization, a feature seen in Valhalla
  • The ability to show headgear in cutscenes (because what’s the point of a cool helmet if no one sees it?)
  • Photo mode poses—because crouching dramatically on rooftops only goes so far
  • A toggle to remove yellow paint markings on climbable areas, for a cleaner and more immersive view

And yes, someone did request a “pinch Junjiro’s cheeks” emote. Don’t ask. Just smile and nod.

Fishing Mini-Game? That’s a Reel Request

You knew this was coming: fans want fishing. Because nothing says “I’m a deadly assassin” like taking a break to catch some carp. Previous entries let you fish in lakes and rivers, and while it didn’t exactly push the story forward, it was a relaxing distraction that players genuinely enjoyed. A small thing, sure, but one that would go a long way in grounding the world even further.

Gear Management Could Be Smoother

Players are also calling for faster selling and dismantling options. With the amount of loot you pick up in Shadows, managing your inventory can start to feel like a mini-game in itself—and not the fun kind. A quick-sell option or bulk dismantle mechanic would save everyone a lot of time (and button mashing).

In addition, considering how drop-dead gorgeous Shadows is, photo mode could be doing more heavy lifting. Players have asked for pose options, filters, and the ability to better control lighting. If we’re going to be running around in samurai armor under a crimson sky, we might as well be able to Instagram it properly.

Ubisoft Is Listening… We Think

Thankfully, Ubisoft Quebec has acknowledged the fan feedback and even hinted that more updates are on the way. In a recent message to the community, the devs said, “This is just the beginning for Shadows, and we’re thrilled to see the game evolve with you by our side.”

That’s a promising sign. With the foundation already strong and the wishlist mostly made of quality-of-life suggestions, Assassin’s Creed Shadows could grow into an even sharper experience—assuming those requests make the cut. Now if someone could just add a button to feed stray cats on the street… instant Game of the Year.
