We’ve got another IP’: Capcom signals sequel plans for Pragmata after million-selling launch
May 4, 2026Capcom has confirmed that Pragmata, its new sci-fi shooter, surpassed one million sales within two days of launch, and says the original IP is likely to receive future games following widespread acclaim and commercial success.
At the Iicon event on 2 May 2026, Rob Dyer, chief operating officer of Capcom USA, announced that Pragmata’s impressive debut has secured the franchise’s future, stating directly: “We’re to a point now where we’ve got another IP that Capcom, and god bless them, has an arsenal, that we can continue to go down.” Capcom has emphasised both its commitment to global development strategies and its responsiveness to Western market feedback, crediting these with Pragmata’s strong performance and reputation since launch.
Pragmata launches strong as Capcom’s latest original IP

Pragmata, an ambitious sci-fi adventure from the creators of Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, was released globally in April 2026. The game follows astronaut Hugh and his android companion Diana as they attempt to escape a robot-infested Moon base. Unique for being one of Capcom’s few new intellectual properties in the last decade, Pragmata quickly exceeded major commercial milestones.
Within 48 hours, it achieved over one million units sold worldwide, according to Capcom’s official sales report. The company attributed this rapid uptake to its strategic efforts, stating: “As a result, these initiatives generated significant momentum, enabling Pragmata to achieve worldwide sales of over one million units in just two days despite being a completely new IP, marking a strong start for the title.”
Capcom also confirmed that a key factor in Pragmata’s launch success was the simultaneous day-one release on Nintendo Switch 2, combined with a widely-available public demo and extensive focus testing in Western territories. Rob Dyer elaborated on this cross-market approach during the Iicon panel, explaining: “They took feedback.” He continued, “And, after six years of development, it was worth the effort.”

On Steam, user response has also been exceptionally strong, with 97% of user reviews marked as ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’. Notably, VGC’s official review praised the game’s concise single-player format, describing it as reminiscent of “the type of shorter single-player adventure that was released during the Xbox 360 era,” highlighting its nostalgic appeal and brisk gameplay pacing.
During the Iicon panel, Rob Dyer used Pragmata as a leading example of Capcom’s evolving global strategy. He said, “Pragmata’s Japanese development team listened to its American division and conducted focus tests, offered demos, and ran surveys in the West.” Dyer specifically thanked Capcom’s global arsenal of brands, suggesting a bright future for further Pragmata instalments, as he summed up: “We’ve got another IP.”
